Not to an audiophile it doesn't. It's much worse than MP3 quality, even.

I was an early adopter of satellite radio. Dumped it a few years ago. It was utter crap. Maybe they've upgraded it since then. Don't know, don't care. As for Ford's '12 speaker Upgraded Audio Package' - another don't care moment - I can do much better in the aftermarket.

Oh, I don't drink cheap beer, either.

Like the vast (majority) of Mustang buyers over 60 actually know what a MP3 Player is or how to use it, LOL!

Anyone, who removes a Factory Installed Audio System from a brand new Vehicle still under Warranty is insane, case closed! For the 99/44% of most typical car Buyers (New Car Buyers) that is, the Factory Audio Systems are satisfactory, especially the "upgraded" ones. Still have a "Boom Box" sitting on your Rear Seat too?

Insane? Case closed? Well, let us all bow before the genius for he has spoken.

FYI PeeWee, I've spent more money on car audio equipment in my life than you're ever likely to earn in a year. Based on the writing samples you've submitted, my guess is way more.

And WTF is 99/44% anyway? Are you attempting to channel an old Ivory Soap commercial? Or are you just as bad with math as you are with writing?

Agreed. I run a small music store and worked for an audio plugin processing company for years. Sirius isn't very good!

I read something by someone who did some testing on XM/Sirius at one point and determined that the audio stream is literally 64Kbps, like single channel ISDN from the days before broadband. LOL! I totally believe that. HD Radio is far superior.

to the op, i see you're from Australia. i doubt Ford would offer various options here. i'm thinking we'll get the highest optioned package so they can charge us a premium. i'd suggest the majority of Aussies will want all the fruit, similar to our redundant FPV's.

Oh yes I know we'll get maybe a couple of major options to choose between and that's it.

My point with the original post wasn't about making sun visors optional, rather the visor with lights, etc. All the gadgets that have MORE gadgets in them.

Myself, I'm a car guy, and I love driving but I've never had / needed / used most of the gadgets in my cars. I've never used the radio, in one car I had a decent sound system so I used that a bit, but mainly just the wheel, pedals and gearstick. (And the indicators, lights, wipers when required, obviously.)

From what I've read over the years, similar sentiments are not that sparsely shared. I guess maybe people into the latest version are a fairly different breed than those I used to talk to, the classic crowd. I couldn't believe the sway of the responses! It's pretty interesting.

lol @ the Simpsons gif - this is genuinely the first time I've been back since I posted, being on the other side of the world to most of you slows down the back and forth.

Everyone but the enthusiasts want the latest and greatest gadgets they "can't live without" even though we have for many years lol.
Yeh that's pretty much what I'm feeling. All the cars come with these gadgets now so if you don't have at least them (and add some more) in your next year's model then your car won't be on top of the buyer's list.

Your certainly entitled to your own opinion but (not) your own Facts. A majority of high end Vehicle manufacturers (include) the Sirius/XM Radio as Standard Equipment across their entire line of Cars. After the initial 3 or 6 month "free" Subscription, you either subscribe or service ends. Whats the big deal, "Genius"? Added cost or weight to the vehicle? Its all about choices and thankfully Ford has eliminated that for those of us who enjoy Satellite Radio. Its not always about sound quality but choice of programming thats unavailable on typical AM/FM Radio. Those that are happy listening to Rush & Glenn won`t mind the missing feature on their new Mustang assuming they opt for the Base V6 Fastback or Convertible.
PS: I`m retired living in Palm Beach, FL. Want to match W2`s?

I am not sure that is a measure of intelligence that you spend gobs of money on audio equipment... in my opinion it is a total, utter waste of money, but that does not mean that you should behave like I do. In my experience these "expert" people who nit pick about whatever they claim to be experts in are just really annoying to be around at parties. I really does irritate me when someone makes a statement like this anonymously on an internet forum. Way to go, tough guy! Try to slam someone that you know nothing about, he could be CEO of Oracle for all you know...

And I am pretty sure that the original post about the "sun visors with illuminated mirrors" was not about the "sun visor" part, but instead the "illuminated mirrors" part. After all, I am not a secretary that needs them to put on my makeup while I drive through traffic. :) But I do agree with the comments, many of the features are mandated (we can have an argument on whether or not the authority should exist to be able to mandate to this level...) and others are met by the economy of scale that it is cheaper to just include rather than having fine-grained steps on the assembly line.
