I find it interesting that there are a lot of other IT guys here, me included. I'm also somewhat of a beginner when it comes to hands on experience. But, I know a bit of the technical side, as I'm also a gearhead.

Good thread!

Ok so I have been sitting on the fence for a little bit waiting for this long winter to end. Spring is in site and its time to start looking at upgrades :)

Unfortunately I need to start with summer wheels and tires, that is underway.

After that I can go in one of two directions, suspension or engine/exhaust.

After a lot of reading I think I am going o be going with maperformance for my engine/exhaust products. SO thinking maybe start with their CAI and tuner. Then move to exhaust and finally downpipes.

Alternately, I am thinking either Steeda or BMR for springs, and sway bars. Is it worth holding out for BMR to get their products out? If so I might start with the engine, grabbing a CAI and tuner. Thoughts on decisions?

Nihil, I did thanks.

I think it is going to be a tune first. It seems a little scary as this is my daily driver, so worried about issues. I think I want a cobb access port, but I think if I do any hardware applications I might go with MAP, so should I buy the cobb from them? If I do, do I get the cobb and MAP tunes included? Looks like they both are the same price.

After that we will see. I am a little nervous about hardware upgrades. Reading some of the development going on and hearing that tuners are needed otherwise the car with throw error codes makes me nervous.

Might just go suspension first and save any tuning plans until after the warranty is up.

Yes to buying the Cobb from MAP and yes to the tunes are included; you can use the OTS tune from the Cobb AP or depending on your mods Adam can write a tune for them.

What mods would cause the car to throw a code without a tune?

removing the cat could and its generally good idea to have a tune for a catless exhaust setup

I still might go with a MAP tune and the Cobb accessport. This is virgin territory for me. But who knows I can't make up my mind.

So looking at CAIs and can't make up my mind.

I like the look of the JLT. I like the idea of it having some sort of cover. It appears to add sound but not overbearing.
MAP is on my list. Not sure if I like the totally open design and the filter in the wheel well. Also heard its the loudest.
Now Mishimoto comes out with theirs. Looks like a cross between the JLT and the MAP. Not a true air box but some sort of seperation from the bay. Looks interesting.
Now to figure out which way to go.

I went jlt, the mishimoto still goes down in the wheel well like map, jlt been doing intakes for mustangs for quite some time. The map is still good but I wanted the 5" opening and being out of the wheel well, water does get in there when its raining hard and I don't want to chance soaking my filter.

Ok so I made a decision and went with a MAP tune and the Cobb accessport. This is virgin territory for me. Hopefully everything goes well. I will assess how the tune performs, then decide what direction to go next. Will probably be either CAI, intercooler or springs.
Update with your review of the tune please. I'm in the same boat as you.. leery of voiding warranty with a tune but could be convinced otherwise if it totally changes the driving experience.

Hey Marjen, good luck with your first endeavor into tuning!
If you have any questions, need help or decide that unit is not quite what you were expecting or hoping for feel free to reach out to us. We would be more than happy to help you out!

As for the intake we obviously recommend our Windstorm which features a sealed intakle design, a premium dry reusable filter, it has peak gains of over 9 wheel hp and 11 wheel lb of torque, and increases of efficiency which makes our intake system the perfect add on to your car. Here's the link;
