Was it just sitting there in the open like it fell down from underneath the dash? Which side of the car.

I'm pretty sure it goes near the pedals by the edge of the carpet to hold the carpet down. When I put my pedal covers on it came out. I kept pressing it back on but it kept falling back out. Useless.

I discovered that same part last year on the driver's side floor mat. I never did figure out where it goes.

I have the exact same things in my old Volvo. Usually tends to hold the carpet down, or holding together some plastics under the dash, ie where the glove compartment meets the parts under it.

so I looked where the pedals are and I can't find anywhere where this thing couple potentially go. It's not part of the carpet snap thingy's that hold it in place... it came from somewhere else

This is not the first thread on the subject. None of us can figure out where this came from. Many of us have found them on the driver's side.
