One in the trunk and one on the front seat. Lol
Notice the sound deadening in the rear tire on the front seat. I kept the best rear and best front for emergency spares. The passenger front was showing metal so it did not come home. The passenger rear had a nail so it stayed.

It is strange the front tires don't have any sound deadening material.

I assume that is what it is. I found it odd also only the rear had it. I wonder if that is part of the OEM spec? Do my non OEM spec rear tires have it? It's the same tire and rating, just not the exact OEM tire due to the sound deadening? Could that be the difference or is there actually some difference in the tire compound?

I have heard it mentioned before, but I thought it would be in all four tires. My front tires don't have it, but after looking at yours, I am sure my rear will have it. My tires are stock PS4-S Michelin's.

Only the OEM spec'd 315/30/20 Pilot Sport 4s tires have the sound deadening in them. There will be an "FP" and "Acoustic" stamped on the sidewall of these tires. The front 305/30/20's do not have the sound deadening but are still stamped with an "FP" since Ford has them custom manufactured for the GT500 by Michelin. If you have ever noticed driving on a particular rough road, more of the noise is coming from the rear.

The foam deadening they put in the tires cuts down around 3db centered around 200 Hz. While that might not be much, it does help to soften the noise. Most of the tires Tesla uses on their cars have this sound deadening plus Audi, Volvo, Porsche and Mercedes use them as well on particular models.

Good information Mark, and nice to see you back on the forum!
Thank you Jaime. I've been kind of preoccupied. I had my right hip replaced in mid February and then mid March my Mach-E came in so I've been messing with that ever since. You know how that goes......

I sure do buddy. Also, I hope the hip placement went well.

The Mach-E is looking better and better to me. If I didn’t need my F-150 I would probably get one.
