I'm seriously considering a 2015 mustang as my next vehicle, specifically the base v6 option. Unfortunately the 17" wheels on this model are pretty ugly (imho), and I don't like the black wheels given as the only other option with the base model. Is it possible to order wheels from one of the other models without stepping up to the 4 cyclinder or v8? I really like the ones in this (http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showpost.php?p=52472&postcount=191) post and the 50th anniversary package wheels.

If you order the Base V6 2015 Mustang and opt for the upgraded equipment package # 051A for an additional $1000 you will get the LED Fog Lamps which you will seldom use, a Power Driver Seat, an ugly Blade Spoiler painted in the exterior paint color which I would immediately delete with Option # 13D Spoiler Delete. You will however get the larger 18`` Alloy Wheels and Tires and although they are (not) Sparkling Silver, they are (not) Black either.

I was having the same dilemma. Your dealer may be able to order the wheels and tires you want separately and swap them with the 17" wheels and tires that come with your car when it's delivered. Another thought is that maybe the dealer would take a set of larger wheels and tires from a car that's on the lot and trade you for the 17"s that come with your car.

I'm now thinking of getting the Ecoboost and that has a Wheel and Stripe package that lets me get 19" wheels for $895. The stripe'll have to go, tho.

I`m sure your aware that by changing your tires from the Standard 17`` Wheels that come with the V6 Base Mustang to larger 18`` or 19`` Tires and Wheels that did`nt come Factory Equipped that you will need to make Speedometer gear ratio changes to calibrate accurate MPH? Just saying.....

NO ... this is FALSE !!

The O/A dia. of all the wheel/tire options on the Mustang are the SAME (+/- minor %), so there is no different speedometer calibration for wheel size.

Ratio of distance between rim & road is all that changes.

All car manufacturers do this !!

When I switch my winter 17"s to summer 20"s on my 2006, I use my SCT Programmer to change the tire revolutions per mile setting accordingly. Without that, my speedo would be somewhere between 2 and 4 miles per hour off based on the digital speedo that runs on my Garmin. I can't imagine it would be any different for the 2015. I'm not even sure you can buy speedo gears anymore.

You should seriously consider buying your own after market wheel.

There probably is a small % difference in rolling radius between the two sizes, but are close enough together that Ford may not make a change. Being off by 2-4 mph isn't that uncommon for a factory speedo calibration. FWIW, though, as I recall Dodge Challengers that have 20" wheels versus 18" have different axle ratios to compensate for the tire size difference, so sometimes OEMs do use different rolling radii between packages.

But no, you wouldn't by speedo gears to change it. The sensor is electronic, there are no drive gears used. Many times, they pick up a signal from the transmission output, the rear axle, the ABS system, etc. So, the only option is recal the speedometer with a programmer if changes need to be made.

Guess I`m showing my age, lol. Back in "the day" before electronics controlled all Vehicle calibrations, changing the speedometer gear in the transmission was required. I just re-checked my Calendar and if fact it is 2014 not 1967.

Then again do we really care if the speedo is off 2-4 mph?
Hell yes! What if your 0 - 60 time is really your 0 - 56 time? Honestly, I'm a little surprised how far off my completely stock (wheels/tires) 2013 GT is. Had it radar'ed and it was several MPH off with no change to anything.

I get those rims standard on my EB Premium and I think they're ugly. I'm going to swap them out and sell them.

With electronically driven speedometer calibration now, there is no excuse for having basically any error in MPH displayed.
