Curious who has replaced theirs out of necessity or appearance. Since the factory lug nuts suck so bad and I’m considering new wheels, new lug nuts are a no brainer. Love the look of open end lug nuts and can use the extra .5” length. Considering ARP and Moroso. Not a fan of the gold finish on the ARP, the black oxide of the Moroso will look a lot better with my black car and wheels. Both rated to 190,000 psi so even on strength, both have easy start snout, cost is same. Not sure of the corrosion resistance of each.

The stock nuts suck sure, but the studs are pretty nice and strong. Usually people upgrade them for ability to run spacers not so much looks or fixing an issue.

But yes, if you get new wheels you pretty much have to get new lug nuts as most if not all aftermarket wheels don't work with the stock nuts. And as you mentioned they suck, so you might as well replace them.

Most of us that changed out our lug studs do it for two reasons 1. need longer ones to add spacer and dont want the bolt on type 2. we remove our wheels more the normal to change out tires, brake pads, bleed calipers and overall track stuff and do not want to worry about stud failure while abusing the car both on the track and in the pits

Gorilla has good quality nuts, open or closed, long, etc. Ford Performance open nuts are fantastic but they’re full diameter.

Apex and some SVE wheels can take full sized lugs.

Color of the studs shouldnt be an issue. Besides, bronze goes with everything.
