If I have a wheel/tire that is .47” taller, does that equate to 1/4” in wheel well/gap or does it add 1/2” ?

As the .47" is the overall DIAMETER change, that means the RADIUS is changed by 1/4" (.235"). The car would be raised by 1/4" and the fender gap would be reduced by the same. If you went with a shorter tire of the same amount, the car would be lowered and you would gain fender gap.

Thank you. Trying to figure out new wheels and springs fitment. I have fronts - 20x10.5 +28 w/275/35 and rears- 20x10.5 +38 295/35) and sportlines. Nervous about rubbing etc. I have the sportlines already. . Don’t know if I should risk it or write them off and order less aggressive springs. The stock gap seems so huge. Adding a 1/4” with the sportlines drop seems doable on paper.

Maybe this site can help you with width and diameter dimensions compared to stock: https://tiresize.com/comparison/

As far as offsets, I don't know myself.
