Wheel locks

I have a Blacked out package, on my 2017 Mustang GT.
It came with wheel locks, which aren't installed yet.

According to the instructions, an impact driver shouldn't be used.
And, that lock nut should be removed first, and put on last.

I take my car to Ford to have oil changes and tyre rotations. Worried they'd take them off wrong. Albeit, they should know, right?

Do you use your lock nuts?

Every tire shop I've been to uses impact drivers on wheel locks. :rant: I'm sure your Ford dealer will be no different. Here's what happened to my McGards (similar design to the ones it looks like Ford uses). :frusty:

Needless to say, I'm not a fan of most wheel locks, especially that style.

No real solution unless you do the maintenance yourself. Even the stock lug nuts will get ruined over time with impact use. Stock lug nuts have a decorative shell on the outside that is fairly soft.

...those photos look scary. Albeit, from 2008. The more I think about it, the more I simply can't be asked. And, if someone is willing to simply steal the wheels, they might as well try to steal my car, too.

Yeah, it's not a huge deal to have them removed as long as there is room around them on the wheels. B ut as you can see the OZ Superlegerras I had didn't have a lot of extra space around the lugs.
