The ideal method would be buy 1 wheel worth of different pattern lugs and then mix and match. That would just take too much time and not worth their effort. Or they do make custom locks that only you have the key for. Only way would be to cut them off at a shop.

The best way is to strip all the nuts to a perfect circle, polish them up real nice

Steal 'em. I'm insured and I get a new set of wheels and tires for a $250 deductible. :D

I agree, even with a $1,000 deductible. Write a check for the cost (which are really really high for OEM believe it or not) and buy some nice aftermarkets.

The stock 18s are $682 a piece just for the wheel (no tire). The 19 optionals $963 per wheel (no tire). The PP and 20s are over $1,000 per wheel (no tire). These are all Ford part prices. Then tires probably another $800-1,000 for 4 Pirellis (depending on which OEM setup) and then TPMS/caps another $100.

Hell if the insurance wants to write me a check for my stock 18's for $3,600 I'll gladly pay the $1,000 deductible and go buy some nice 20x10 square setup aftermarket and tires with the remaining $2,600. Good reason to get rid of them and you'd never get that much for stock 18's; maybe $500 if you have to ship them.

I care about infotainment
Is the enhanced security package worth it or are most people just buying the $20 Gorilla Locks or similar setups from AutoZone?

I wish. My insurance with Geico is already $1200 a year with a $1000 deductible. 33 with a clean driving record and last accident (minor at that) probably 12-15 years ago. I've looked any elsewhere is even more somehow. I guess down here they factor flood risk is higher as is hurricane damage though.

I save more having a $1,000 deductible vs $0 or $250 after like 3 years on yearly insurance cost difference.

On topic though, the Youtube videos I posted show just how easy you can get spline or locks of with regular every day sockets. Better off getting a motion alarm that will go off when the car is jostled trying to wrench on the nuts than these "locks." The loud alarm at night will be more of a deterrent (cause the RUN instinct) than when someone has 1-2-3 hours to get your wheels off in the dark.

Me either, I wish I would catch someone in the act
You can do several things to catch them..go to a store that sells hunting & fishing gear. Purchase a motion activated camera used to watch for game. They are battery operated and cost less then $100. Mount it in an area that looks down on your car. Also, purchase a motion activated set of outdoor spotlights. These can be battery powered with a solar panel charger, again fairly cheap, and available at Menards, Lowe's, etc. The bright lights themselves will deter a thief.

Mount the lights so they shine down on your car and will be activated by anyone going near the car. The camera will store the photos on an internal chip. My neighbor did this when he had kids vandalizing his house.

Pocket change. I've got 4 drivers on my policy, 2 under 25 and one has not had his 9 points show up yet on the policy. Me and the wife have clean records and I'm dropping $5600 a year on 5 cars, $350 of it is my classic insurance on my '66 GT Fastback. Most valuable car cost me the least. Go figure. But then again, limited mileage, no one under 25 is allowed to drive it and it has to be garage kept.

Careful with the motion sensors. I tried this once. Got woke up at 2:30 am to find a bunny rabbit hopping up the driveway. Little bastard wasn't even totin' an Easter basket :headbonk:

I think these will be a little harder to just cram on a socket
You would think so but search "remove Mcguard locks" on youtube. Again, just hand tools.

There is no such thing as a failsafe wheel lock. It's false security to protect against perhaps common street thugs teenagers, but anyone who wants the wheels will get them of with enough time and darkness; just like you can lock your house but it doesn't prevent burglaries. Locks only prevent common criminals, which there are few out there these days other than teens/kids. If they're stealing wheels and have the brains to brings a jack to get the car up and wheel of they are going to know how to defeat common wheel locks- anyone can log onto youtube and watch in under 5 minutes.

I wouldn't worry, new tires are nice to have anyways. FWIW...trail cam for hunting woks great on our property, we have one setup on wifi and it snaps a photo of anyone's license plate that comes and goes, day or night. They never know until the PO gets envolved. We get trash dumpers - huge piece of family property and it's hard to watch it all out in BFE and after high speed internet came through we put a few in. Low and high in trees. Some on the ground. Awesome and you would be amazed at how much traffic you see, even out in the sticks. I'm sure foot traffic would be nuts in the city.

Wheel locks are there to keep honest people honest. You can make the argument that if someone really wants the wheels they can flatbed the entire car away... but the average stoner isn't likely to have a flatbed when they are looking about desperately for something, anything to steal to make cash for their next fix.

I went with the Gorilla locks with the shell around the splined inner lock. It would take a reasonably serious tool kit to get these off, and by that time hopefully I will have noticed and stated my objection with my concealed carry.
