Sync 3 you can have folders and easily jump through them really quickly SYNC2 was a little laggy in my test. My brother has 2014 fusion and its laggy but gets the job done. His audio system is the sony system (titanium fusion) and it sounds great to me. My shaker system in the 2016 sounds great as well. I dunno if they upped the speaker quality or just the audio processor from the 2015.

. Based on your last response, why don't you just hit play all and shuffle? Then you can just hit next if a track comes on that you want to skip. It's what I do since I have so much music on my USB Drive. I don't know what else to tell you.

I have an eclectic sense/taste in music...

While the girlfriend might like 4 of my folders that are segmented between, 80s music ,Madonna, Tom Petty, or Prince.

She absolutely hates the Junior Brown, Rammstein, Rage Against The Machine, and hours of various celtic bag pipes(try Whiskey Galore "Tripping Up The Stairs" in a 1000wrms stereo built for sound Q and tight bass...) or straight up slow air pipe marches.

And the math major in me knows what a random number generator can produce in randomness...

one moment it is tender emotional song "Friday" by The Cure and the next moment it is "Me So Horny" by 2 Live Crew followed by something like Marilyn Manson or 90's Ministry.

Browsing files is a pain in the car, logically speaking it could be executed so much better.

Maybe the young'uns don't realize how good they got it today. My first deck in my 87 CRX Si was the first car CD player made (Sony). It didn't even have a built in amp. It would skip every time your car hit a bump, but that pair of Pioneer 6x9's in box's in the back could pump out the NWA :)
While I disagree on the quality of the system overall, I couldn't help but comment. My first new car was a silver '87 CRX Si when I was 15. Started with the 'surface mount' Pioneers mounted on top of the the storage trap door in the back. Later built a box for a 12" sub and component mids and tweeters along with Radio Shack crossovers. It barely fit between the storage box and the hatch, leaving a little area for actual storage. ;)

I also had the original Discman on a post mount tray that had four small springs to keep it from skipping - some times.

I'd buy another one of those cars again in a heartbeat. ;)

Go to eBay or Craigslist and get a cheap CLASSIC iPod (Apple no longer makes them). 80GB - 160GB. Use iTunes to create playlists. Plug the iPod in via USB and you get great sound if the files are Apple Lossless or high bitrate MP3s. Then just "talk" to your car and ask it to play the playlist you want. Create as many playlists as you need to keep you and the GF happy. The iPod route works really really well. I cannot stress this is the best option enough. You get album art loaded as well if that matters to you

I've got 3000+ songs loaded on my 160GB iPod and it works with MFT seamlessly. Couldn't be happier.

Thanks for the suggestion but I am just gonna continue to be a cranky curmudgeon. I stay away from Apple products and Itunes. I hate that some idiot at Ford said "hey this will work great no need to give people options."

Look towards Microsoft trying to redefine what gaming is when they pushed the Kinnect on X-bone users and how they begrudgingly offered a version without a Kinnect only a year after release. That is how I feel about Sync and the multimedia car experience.

My PCs all run windows XP, used to be a gamer and delve into the latest greatest but I gave up on it. I have serious doubts about buying any newer PC's for the next 10 years given all I use them for is internet access and filing taxes.

Honestly I almost didnt buy my 2015 because it comes loaded with too much crap I dont use.

I am kinda off I guess. There is a reason I like my 95 Cobra most, it is relatively low tech and completely unsophisticated.

This is spot on! Can't stand the "you don't have to know anything about digital media (do as I say)" philosophy of Apple. I am (was) continually frusterated that Factory systems operate digital Media with 90's funtionality. But The Great Gazoo has a point. I go his route when all other options fail, but I go android or, my fav, a JAVA based COWEN S9. Connect either AUX or USB. I have "Metal Free" playlists for when the wifes in the car and it plays FLAC's. So far SYNC3 has played very tech saavy direct from thumb drive. This little program (which runs on XP just fine) is great for making playlists: http://www.oddgravity.de/app-opc.php
