Hi all, I noticed this part coming under the steering box. One of the wires is cut. It has max and min settings.

Any ideas?

Looks like an aftermarket alarm. The min/max thing is the sensitivity.

why would I have an aftermarket alarm on a car that's being bought from a dealer?

For an upsell. They probably get a discount on it to have it installed on more cars then make up all the money on the people that don't pay attention to the final dealer invoice.

Can you post better (clearer) pics of the front and backside of that unit so we can assist better?

Did you purchase the car new?
