I have an 2016 Ecoboost automatic PP and have a sport position on the shifter as well as a sport+ on the mode selector. What is the difference? I've tried both on numerous occasions and still can't notice any differences between them.
Anyone know?

I'm sure there is an "official" answer, but I use the S for using the wheel pedals and the mode selector for all other times. Well, I also use S for quickly getting into sport mode.

Outside of the pedals, I don't "feel" a difference in S or sport mode.

The "s" on the shifter controls throttle response and shift firmness. The sport mode switch is for traction control settings.

With S+. the engine rpm is held at 2000 rpm or above
When the engine drops below 2000, the transmission downshifts
It feels like the transmission is in lockup in each gear, so the acceleration response feels sharper.
When in S mode, if you do not use the paddle shifters, it acts pretty much like S+, with the gear selection done by the computer, However, if you use the shifters in S mode, then the computer thinks you want to shift all the time, and will hold a gear as the rpm increases until the turbo waste gate dumps. Whether or not Smode shifts for you resets every time the engine is started.

I only drive in Sport, and depending on how the weather it, switch it into Sport+ or Track

I feel in drive, it LUGS the engine, and last thing I ever wanna do is start lugging

just my .02 cents

Sport plus loosens stability control and makes it a bit more alive, Track ups the ante while turning off rear traction

If shifter is in "S" and toggles are not touched - the car still controls the shift points.

If the shifter is in "S" AND the toggle is selected, the driver controls the shift points - meaning the trans will not shift unless YOU shift.

You're wrong.
The S on the shifter just controls the shifts. The switch on the premiums to sport+ will change throttle response and traction...

I notice a difference when in S mode in throttle response. Maybe not as great as S+, but better. Plus it does keep the engine higher in the RPM band. And rev matches the downshifts.
