S+ holds the engine rpm above 1900. In hilly terrain this helps mpg because at 1300 rpm(in normal mode) the engine doesn't have much hp. Mpg seems to be 1/2 mpg more in S+ at average speed of 45 mph.bigger reason is the car just runs easier
Correct. Power has to have a time element, Higher horsepower means you use the btu's stored in the fuel faster. In these cars more hp used= faster fuel consumption

Run a tank of gas. Don't hit boost pressure.
If you are still under 25 mpg There is something wrong with the car.
The only way I can get below 18 mpg is to be No or Full throttle all the time.
