Gonna wax for first time, need to know what to buy. What's everyone using? Needs to be one application - no time for multistep process. Something that lasts a few months. Anyone using Meguiar's 3-in-1 Wax?

Gotta buy it today - is that available in retail stores?

Meguiers anything works well for the price. Griots is also decent stuff. As for something lasting months? Maybe the new Meguiars ceramic wax. Is in a blue bottle. Spray on while car is wet after washing, then rinse off and dry with microfiber. Works and looks good on Platinum white tricoat.

I use collinite 845 with powerlock as a sealant, it's good stuff. Between washes ill use meguiars spray wax, @Labradog what do you use? Ceramic?
I’ve thought about it, but there’s enough drawbacks that I’ve stuck to sealants and waxes. I use Blackfire Wet Diamond (will go to Powerlock when the bottle is gone) topped with 845. Beadmaker to dry after every wash and I don’t touch the car between washes.

Ended up using the spray on Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic wax. Wow - never thought a spray would work so well. Amazing results. Instructions suggest to buff off first time using it, not spray off. Took much longer than I thought it would to buff off, but worth the effort.

I have been using ceramic based spray coatings for the last couple of years. They are so much easier to apply, give excellent gloss and exceptional water repelling quality.

However, last month I decided to give an old favorite another go. Collinite 845.

This stuff is very durable and really gives the paint a warm glow.

Looking good!

Something so satisfying about a freshly waxed/coated car that makes the effort worth it.

For added longevity, apply whatever wax you like, then use a spray-wax or sealer as a drying aid after washing. I'm currently alternating between Renny Doyle Double Black Bead Maker, RainX Fast Wax (be prepared for the smell), and Torque Detail Mirror Shine.

+1 for a random orbital buffer with a polishing pad.

Then any wax listed above.

The polisher does wonders to cut the hard water and other contaminants.

If you want to check your paint surface stick you hand in a thin plastic bag (sandwich) and rub across your paint. Might feel like sand paper.

I actually don’t think I used the Meguias stuff correctly. I had washed the car the day before, and waxed it the day after without wetting it first. So I put it on dry and buffed it off. Considering how good it looks like that, I expect it will look even better when I use it correctly!
