Hello,

I just bought my 1st Mustang GT PP1(1st muscle car too for that matter). I’m looking at adding some bolt-ons for the 2020 gt. CAI + tune? CAI no tune? Headers and exhaust? There are soo many options. Has anyone else added mods to there 2020 recently?

Definitely can't go wrong with a resonator delete, axleback or catback to start. A tune will wake it up some for sure, E85 will pull more power out of it too. Can help with some suspension parts too depending on how far you want to get into it.

Thanks! Im not sure exactly where I want to go with it. Im just seeing what everyone else is doing. Warranty is a factor. Im guessing there may be Ford approved performance parts, maybe?

I was in the same boat as you, 2020 GT PP1 and I started with all suspension and wow has it made a difference. To keep your warranty I would start with the suspension upgrades like the Steeda stop the hop kit, springs, dampers, etc..

Do they need to be warranty and smog friendly? I have a 2020 PP1 as well and warranty and smog is a big importance to me. I went with the FRPP Powerpack for this car and it is definitely a boost in the pants. It won't be equal to a good E85 tune and CAI but once again, warranty and smog is hugely important to me as I live in Cali.

Suspension I went with the FRPP track kit, this made a huge difference as well. Another item is better wheel and tire fitmet. The Mustang is a big car and needs more rubber, as well as the OEM wheels and tires weigh a ton. I went with SVE X500 wheels (many to choose from) with 275/35/19 and 295/35/19 tires and saved almost 40lbs of rotational mass. I also plan on moving on to Bear Eradispeed rotors both front and rear, this saves and additional 35lbs rotational mass. Here is my work in progress so far.

NO TUNE, keep warranty
ENGINE:
AFE dry air filter
Ported intake by Brett barber @ air flow solutions
Ported throttle body by air flow solutions
Steeda H pipe
Thermostat
Small pully for waterpump
Borla cat back exhaust

SUSPENSION:
STOP THE HOP or similar
Lighter wheels
Sticker tires
Solid lugnuts
Spare tire and jack

DRIVER:
The Mustang is most likely faster than you can drive it safely. Do some local auto crosses etc...
Learn your car. The best driver always wins the race. Don't show off at are and coffee (LOL)

First off, nice lookin ride. Second, enjoy the car first so you can see where YOU think it needs improvements according to your driving style and needs. Don't get caught up in what everyone else is doing to their car. With warranty being a factor you are fairly limited under the hood. Sound was my first concern. Even with active exhaust I wanted a little more sound, but quality sound, not noise. Being old school I went with an H pipe to get that old muscle car sound. Good luck and enjoy

I might be hitting you up for a 10% code. About to order the rest of my Steeda suspension parts. Extreme G-track brace, front and rear sway bars with adj. end links (kit), and rear vertical links. At that point I think I will be all Steeda'd out underneath.

I did the basic Steeda " Stop the Hop" kit. Then went lund Ngauge flexfuel e85. Very big change! Next, if you are willing, would be cat delete with or without longtube headers. I went with just cat delete pipes. I am guessing i am up about 60 hp at this point.

Don't tune sh*t. Keep that warranty for at least 2 years for the power train.

Upgrade handling. Verticle links, IRS bracing, improved suspension.

Bring the car to life. Once the 2 years are up, stop messing about and bolt on a supercharger.

I wasn't able to get enough runs in to be definitive but it looks like a CAI is a wash on the 15 up mustangs.

I went with the 18 up CAI on a 17, larger tube. The only tune changes were to the MAF tables so it would fuel correctly.

The 18 60 ft time was quicker but the 1/8th and 1/4 mile times were slower with the 18 set up. Not by much, it could have been a statistical error. I also only got 1 run with each due to the number of cars that showed up that night.

Stock 17 CAI
60 2.175
1/8..8.63 @86.26
1/4 13.06 @111.97

18 CAI
60 2.167
1/8 8.61 @85.45
1/4 13.09 @111.36

I plan on going back and getting 3 runs each for a proper avg.

It looks like the CAI alone is a wash.

Like everyone else says depends on the budget. Definitely some exhaust upgrades, springs and some 20mm wheel spacers will make the car really come alive and look 10x better. I’ve always liked Borla, I’ve got the ATAKs on my 16 GT. All this can be done if you’re decent with some wrenches for about $2k. Maybe cheaper if you can find a used exhaust setup.
