I went with the ALP system, it does both radar and parking sensors.

My V1 has saved me numerous times. Now I'm looking at laser jammers.

I have a Pro 500 for highway trips, it works pretty good for the price, the GPS is nice to mark/eliminate false alerts. in Florida the Highway Patrol uses radar, only some in-town departments use laser. But mostly I don't speed. The highway speed limits are 70 around here, you can go 75-77 without getting a ticket, I don't like to go much faster than that because of traffic. In town the main roads are mostly 50-55mph (everyone goes 60) which is plenty with the traffic volume as well.

If I lived out west or somewhere I could really make use of going 90+, then I would probably invest in a good laser jammer set up, built into the car like bigmike posted. My Porsche friend who speeds literally everywhere has one and he swears by it.

I just got the Whistler CR90. I will give a review after a couple of weeks driving with it. I have heard good things about it...hope they are true!

I have an old cobra esd7400(dont laugh please haha)new in box that I picked up for $20 bucks a few years back. I didnt have a fast car then and only picked it up for the novelty of it but never used it. Can someone tell me of their experiences with one of these and if it is actually functional with todays radar guns? Thx

Well only a couple days with it, but so far im impressed. If you leave it on the highest sensitivity level in town you will get quite a bit of false alarms but turning it to city mode helps a lot. I passed a lot of cops and the CR90 gave me a lot of notice. (Minimum of 300ft but most of them gave me much more notice than that)

Whistler has a "City Mode 2" that turns off the X band and leaves the others at max sensitivity. Since police really aren't using X any more you will get rid of a bunch of your false alarms with it off.

I use my eyes.
Had one back in the day and it beeped when I was about 200ft from a cop or at every Walmart I passed by.
If you can spot them with your eyes your not going fast enough or live in a flat desert.

Yes it's great for the reasons stated above. I also use the Waze GPS app on my phone which has saved me even before I see the police (not running active radar)
Waze is nice and all, but it's effectiveness hinges on whether or not people actually report and maintain the reports. Honestly, I just don't trust waze's reports. I'd say less than 50% of the police trap reports are actually correct as I come upon them. No real fault of waze... things are constantly changing, but people swear by waze, and it's not that great.

I run an Escort Passport Max2. I paid about $500, and it's been phenomenal. It's definitely saved my butt a few times recently (headers and loud exhaust tend to turn on the radars if the police are in the vicinity). It still gets hit with falses every once in a while. Primarily from big rigs with radar braking systems. I'll get a couple from some of the higher end cars with the radar bells and whistles.

Only real gripe with this detector, is that I have no idea in what direction the signal is coming from. Every time I hear the alert, it becomes a game of trying to figure out where it came from. The newer passport 360 solves that issue, but I'm not sure if it's worth selling the one I have and buying the new one.

Most of the Escort units let you disable bands. I have X turned off on my 8500 x50.
