hey guys i need help picking out a radar detector. I plan on buying a valentine v1 later on but im looking at cobra ones now. does anyone know the difference between the spx and xrs line? I was looking at the spx5500 and the xrs9770

Honestly man, I would save your money and get the Passport Escort or the V1. I've owned about 3-4 cobras and they work but they aren't the best detectors out there, especially when they always go off on the Blind Spot Indicators on BMWs, Audis etc.

i see. I just need one for right now cause of the amount that im driving for work. and then once I have enough for the v1 i was gonna give it to my gf. So i just need to decide on one of the two i listed

A radar detector is a waste of money if all it does is give false alerts. This is what cheap detectors do. Don't buy a cheap one, it literally is a waste of money.

i Own Escort max 360. Best radar detector though expensive. I have it since a month and already saved couple of speeding tickets.

Pro - Very less or negligible false alerts. Inbuilt GPS, 360 protection,Good UI
Cons - Expensive, Biggest RD in market, Range not so good when compared to Redline, Arrows are not fast as valentine one.

Hopefully escort launches REDLINE 360 = Max 360 + Redline . This combination would be unbeatable

For $150 you can get a Whistler CR90. Which is much cheaper than the good escort models but far superior of the Cobras. Dont get me wrong, if money wasnt a factor the escorts would be first pick. But for the money the CR90 is great!
