So first off I would like to say I'm very happy to have found a community such as 6g to give me all the knowledge on the new Mustang as I have found in here, so thank you for that!

I have seen the trials and tribulations of users firsts posts, so here goes nothing:

I spotted this beaut in my city today and while i was mesmerized by it, i had almost no idea what i was looking at. It appears as though it is a project car to me, however the actioncam plus the Michigan "manufactures" plate threw me for a loop. On the other hand its very possible its just some local kids car that he hasn't taken a stance on what he wants to do it lol. I could debate what I think it is but I'm curious what you guys have to say!

Thanks

That is a de-camoed prototype S550. Basically this car is over a year old and one of the first 15s Ford manufactured for road tests.

Are you in AZ?

What Zach said.

An old prototype for the 2015 Mustang that appears to be an old P/T calibration unit.

They Shoot Mustangs, Don't They?

I believe the other guys are correct. Looks like a prototype Mustang. Don't they take them out in a field and shoot them when they're done testing them? I love the non-matching wheels. Quite a statement!

Awesome thanks for the response. I am actually in Florida, but had the pleasure of running into one of the full camo ones back in August while in Minnesota so i thought the patterns looked a little familiar.

This. Probably a Ford employee that didn't want to rack up miles on his/her personal vehicle...but still wanted a vacation in Sunny Florida.

And that poor horse is headed for the crusher :(

Prototype or not, two different wheels? Really? Someone dun got lazy. Didn't they release some stangs with two different wheels to dealerships or people who ordered? Thought I remembered reading that before...

Don't dismiss it too quickly. Yes, chances are it's an old prototype, but it could just as well be still testing components for the '16/'17 MY. For all we know, that could be sporting a DI Coyote and a 10-speed auto

And a 19" front / 20" rear? Hmmm, could be a track pack or something :)

must be some Kind of Performance model
1. take a look at the taillights. These taillights without any trim were on the fpc-testers in the past
2. rear tires sticking out very far
3. look at the size of the rear brake disc

CTF cars typically get crushed soon after their "lot in life" is done..this one obviously is being kept around for something.

It wouldn't be at all surprising if it's testing the new transmission. It's a telemetry equipped car so it's obviously designed for drivetrain testing.

Maybe they're gonna let a crash test dummy take it for one final ride.
