I've been searching the forums and can't really find the answer, but what is the widest aftermarket wheel you can fit on the FRONT of the GT's w/o modification? It seems from tirerack, AM, etc that it's 9.5".

Essentially I am wondering can you not 305's+ all around?

Thanks

Front w/o modification….

With camber only and longer studs/spacers you can fit up to 315s.

With only camber, you can fit 305s /11”s with specific non-rotatable offset wheels, or with studs/spacers and more common rotatable offsets.

Without any mods at all, 10” 285s are really easy, and an 10.5/295 may be possible. Beyond 295 you probably need to run camber plates to tuck them in. Bolts won’t help.

So yeah, 305 square rotatable has been done a lot, but usually with camber plates, longer studs and slip on 25mm spacers with common 50-52ET 11” wheels. Why run 305s if you aren’t going to run the camber to get the most grip out of them?

[also if it helps at all, CJ pony Parts sells a wheel and tire package for s550s that come with 19x10's front and 19/11's rear for a stock setup ... with 295s in the rear and 285s in the front

And what is everyone's opinion on spacers with racing??? I've been told 'just say no'.

PP2 wheels are front 10.5 x 19, rears are 11 x 19... I run them with 285 front/305 rear. 305 and 295 stick out (front)... no camber plates.

Pretty common, as long as you use the slip-on hub-centric (like from OPMustang.com or Apex). Don’t use bolt-on.

Spacers are the only way to get a true “square” set up. You could always go with a lesser (+26 or so) offset but you can’t rotate them F/R.

I’ve run spacers for 2 years now with a bunch of events on them with no problems. The folks that say never do spacers are doing it wrong lol. To another members input, only do slip ons.

There’s a bunch of content on this subject as well as a TON of track related stuff on my YouTube in my sig below.

Feel free to DM me with any questions as well.

There are two different types of spacers. Bolt-on spacers are not recommended. more bolts = more points of failure, harder to verify correct torque and often low quality studs on the spacers. You also have to be careful to make sure the wheel and spacer have no small gaps due to interference. Basically stay away.

Slip on spacers over longer replacement studs are pretty common on track. Same number of fasteners, replacement studs are usually high quality, - the spacer itself is just sandwiched in the middle, no extra parts to torque and no interference issues. Just get hubcentric ones.

So, different animals. Bolt-on is the no-go, but slip on spacers and longer studs are fine, and they can let you run square rotatable 305/11" (and in some cases even wider) square setups.

Quality spacers (not adapters with built in studs) and extended ARP studs is fine.

And I've seen one person do a 11.5" (or maybe even 12) wheel up front with 325s. Now that takes alot of camber and it does poke out a bit, but for a track only setup most people won't mind.

305s with 11" wheels is much more common and you can tuck them under the fenders with enough camber.
