So after this long and painfull wait since may..my car will be here any day now. But I just had a monkey wrench thrown in. My current daily driver 06 porsche cayenne S decided today that the drive shaft center bering should break.
With this being a major part of my down payment via trade in I believe this problem may push me right out of the deal due to lost money

What the hell do I do now????

I wonder if you could find a whole new drive shaft on the cheap by calling around to some junk yards? It doesn't seem like it would be that expensive of a part (the bearing itself), but then again, I've never owned a Porsche...

Fix the drive shaft and trade it in.

That's what I'm trying to do but every dollar spent is one less for down payment in which I'm already getting hosed. And I don't think just not saying anything when trading it in is good karma. ...Obstacles

Well it sounds like you were max'd out on pmt, if so make the decision thats best for you.
I wouldn't try to trade it in that way, your right, it will come back to you.
Just see what it will cost and go from there.

Good Luck.

Sounds like sage advice...

See if dealer can offer an additional 750 or so in discounts?

Trading in a car that's actually worth something is like throwing money away.

What ever the dealer will give you, you could likely get a few grand more selling it private. If your budget is that tight, you need to fix the car, sell it privately, then order your Mustang.

When I got within a 4-6 weeks of getting the car, I took the car to the dealer to get their trade-in 'value'. I then doubled the price and sold it on Craigslist in 4 days. You can probably make more and put it well below what other similar cars are going for. Although, I had a very popular commuter car, so it was easy to get rid of.

Fix the Porsche and wait a little longer on the Mustang if you need to.

My advice is you should probably be looking at owning less expensive vehicles if one small repair is going to push you over the edge financially.

What is the cost? I had a similar repair on my Infiniti FX35, 06. It was $1200

If a $100-$1500 repair or deduction from your tade has such huge impact on you buying a $30k vehicle, perhaps you should consider a Ford Focus? :p:shocked:

But seriously, If you spend {portion} of your downpayment to fix this, the payment should go up around $20-$25/month. If that is the deal breaker, you really should reconsider the whole deal.
