2018 GT Premium...Jan 2 (?) delivery

Hello all,

I am active duty military overseas, heading back to the US soon. I will take delivery in Illinois. A breakdown of my pricing is below. Also, I did not have to pay any sales tax at all.

I think the military auto sales tracking system works differently...I am not able to use COTUS. They provide a different site for us to use, and mine right now just says delivery expected Jan 2, with no VIN yet. I placed the order on Sept 9. I didn't use X Plan becasue this price, after incentives, was a little less than X Plan. I am happy with my deal, mostly because I don't have to pay sales tax.

2018 GT Premium Base Price $38,117.00
Destination Charge
$900.00
401A Equipment Package
$2,145.00
Enhanced Security Package
$385.00
Safe and Smart Package
$1,457.50
Active Exhaust
$872.50

Subtotal $43,877.00
Delivery Point Processing
$300.00 = $44,177.00

- Military Bonus Cash
$500.00
- Green Tag Event
$1,425.00

Total Incentives
= -$1,925.00

OTD Price: $42,252.00

Oxford White
, No front license plate bracket, Spoiler delete, Showstopper Red interior

Hmm, if you can get X-Plan, you may secure a better price; in my opinion, your price is a little high for a base and added options; look at my build below:

2018 Mustang GT Premium

Ingot Silver
400A Equipment Group (Ebony Leather Interior)
10 Speed Automatic Transmission
3.55 Gears
Enhanced Security Group
Safe and Smart Package
Spoiler Delete
Active Exhaust
19" Polished Aluminum Wheels

X-Plan: 43,652. 43

Incentives: $500 Military Bonus Cash $750 X-Plan Incentive

OTD Price: $44315.86

I know my OTD price is $2063 more expensive than yours but, considering mine is an automatic and equipped with the 19" Polished Aluminum wheels, your price, in my opinion, for your specific trim and build, is about $500 too much, when compared to the X-Plan price. Just my "2 Cents."

Well, I priced out the X plan, and it was lower until I got the incentives with the Military Auto Sales people. They (Ford) would not combine any incentives with X plan, so this offer was lower. Plus, I was leaving overseas, and that base dealer was the only deal in town. It was, really, take it or leave it. I still think it's a better deal (again, no tax) then I would have gotten stateside. Plus, financing less than half of it for only three years, so I save there, too. Now, I was told that if some better incentives happen before delivery, then I can claim them. I am not counting on them for a 2018 being delivered in January, though.

Also, this is the second time that I have seen people specifically note "3.55 gears" as itemized. 3.55 gears are standard, aren't they? I'm just wondering why people are itemizing them alongside things like active exhaust and enhanced security group like that ratio costs extra...

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but you are going to have to pay sales tax once you register the vehicle which, in IL is over 6%.

It's somewhat better to take delivery overseas and drive it "tax free" for a few years then ship it back to the states. You would then have to pay sales tax on the current value (depreciated) of the car although you might have to pay to ship the car which could make it a wash.

You might want to talk to your sales guy...

Nope. Florida allows me to register the car remotely, and pay ZERO sales tax as long as I do not drive it in Florida for six months. This isn't my first time doing this.
My inital registration fee is also waived.

Also, Florida has no inspection and no front license plate. LOVE Florida!

Can I get someones opinion on right under $33k OTD for a base 2017 GT in California. Seems high with 2018s around the corner.
