orderd my 2016 GT350 Tech on the 2nd of Feburary 2016
worked out the details MSRP + 2500
paid 2500 deposit thought all was well and good

then yesterday the dealer calls me up to say that they are not going to sell me the car because they can get more money for it than i contracted for.

went into the dealership this morning to see what the hell was going on. and sure enough the owner look me square in the eyes and said that he was willing to take me to court over this.

i have never meet had such a greedy basturd in my life

Name him. This dealership doesn't deserve to be in business. I would light him up via on line reviews of his dealership.

That's about the third or fourth time I've heard about dealers backing out of a deal on these cars. Makes me sick. Too bad you're so far away from TX. My dealer has 3 in inventory and I know he will go 5k over, because he did for me back in December.

Don't be intimidated by his "court" statement. He's lying. He doesn't want the bad press. I guarantee you that a local TV station would love this story for their pro-consumer segment.

Do you have the sale agreement in writing? If so, he legally needs to honor that contract. Call your lawyer if you have the agreement in writing and tell the dealer you have a lawyer and will sue him over it.

If it was just a verbal agreement, then you probably have no recourse. ALWAYS get deals like this in writing!

I am not a suite kind a guy, but greedy dealers really piss me off. My local dealer was making me buy all kinds of paint and interior protection to get a Focus RS. I have bought 11 cars in the past 12 years, what do you think the odds of me ever going there again? that same dealer did not see me for 10 years, because he played a game with me in 2002. Guess what, they have lost the sale on 5 cars because they wanted make an extra $2K on the Focus RS.

MSRP: $42,775

Freight / Delivery: $900 (everyone pays this)
"Processing": $199
Subtotal: $37,800

I won't bother with TTL, since those are different in every State and has nothing to do with the deal anyone makes at the dealership. Let's just say it stings...

First let me say thanks to everyone on this forum for all their help and support along the way. I have been wanting the new Mustang for a couple years now but I had to wait after buying a house.

I spent a ton of time at dealerships over the past weekend. I talked with over half a dozen different salesmen. Every place I went, I told them I was looking to buy in the next week or two and I would be buying from whomever gave me the best deal. The only thing I told them was the type of car and options I wanted. I never told them what I was looking for as far as price. I just said, give me your best deal. I played my cards very close to my chest.

I was looking to buy a 2016 Mustang EcoBoost Premium Automatic. I didn't need any other options. I got a couple of decent prices but a some of the dealers were super shady. One tried to put $1,000 of "Dealer Addons" on top of the MSRP. That same place give me their best offer at sticker price. When I said no thanks he tried to keep coming down. I said, "what part of give me your best offer do you not understand?"

Anyway, today I ended up at a dealer that was over an hour away from home. The guy told me he only makes $150 per sale so he doesn't care what I get it for and that he'd give me the best deal he could. He came in well over $1,000 under any other place.

In the end, this is what I got my car for.

MSRP: $31,490
Negotiated Price: $27,345
Frieght / Delivery: $699
Tax/Title/Fees: $1,905
OTD: $30,000 even.

The price came to about $200 more...but I kind of paused when he asked if it was good enough. He said if I drop it down to a nice even $30,000 would you take it. I said yes. I might have been able to get it for a little cheaper...But I was already over $2,000 below X-Plan and under invoice by a good amount. I was tired of haggling and going from dealer to dealer on a broken leg. Anyway, I am now the proud owner of a 2016 Mustang. How did I do?
