Spent $35 and about 30 minutes to add an external mic up under the rear bumper for my GoPro. I hated all the wind noise when at the track... Details in the YouTube description.

(never mind the fat bald guy driving, I don't know who he is. ;) )

It's routed through the spare tire well and out one of the oem grommets.

Not at all complicated nor time consuming. Just watch for those hood liner clips, they can fall into the engine bay, I guess you can put some sort of cover over the engine while you are working the installation.

Sounds good. I may eventually go this route although my SJCam doesn't get as much wind noise as most GoPro's.
