Do you have security cameras at work? maybe someone carrying something hit it? I could have been a perfectly placed rock.....I had a rock hit my windshield on my old daily driver....I inspected the window and thought it was good.....I turned on the defroster (it was November in Chicago) and I literally watched it go from one end to the other.

I asked about cameras in the parking lot and they don't have anything. I guess I will try to talk to my local dealer and see what they say but my guess is they'll say it was not a manufacturing issue.

I just found this in the warranty information. Hopefully Ford will cover this:

windshield stress cracks. However, limited coverage on windshield
stress cracks will be provided for the first 12 months or 12,000 miles
(which ever occurs first), even though caused by use and/or exposure
to the elements.

Don't laugh please but here it goes....

I was doing a spirited Sunday drive and as I was taking a corner a big spider dropped from my visor and was dead center in my line of sight.

I quickly hit it toward the windshield and killed it with my hand.

I looked back and realized my windshield cracked. Keep in mind I'm wearing padded alacantara racing gloves.

While I am a big and strong guy I highly doubt with the small amount of force I hit the windshield with would break it.

I ended up getting a new one installed at a trusted glass guy I have for 500 cash. Also made sure to have the proper sound screen version put in.

Anyway I kind of have a feeling that there was some tension on the windshield and all it took was a tap to have it crack which is something that may have happened to you.

Wedding ring? That can do it too, especially tungsten. Ask me how I know......

at least the bug was dead.

Sad thing is it didn't die and jumped on the center console.

It was a trip.

I thought about that too but I actually wear a Qalo poly ring.

Taking it to the dealer tomorrow. They said they'll take some pictures for Ford and go from there. They didn't sound too confident it will be approved as a stress fracture but it's worth a shot.

Whatever you do go OEM, stay away from "safelite"
While I agree I had them do my 14 Raptor last summer. Told the insurance agent OEM Ford only. Told Safelite OEM Ford only. Guy shows up with a non Ford part. I wouldn't let him touch the truck.

Called safelite back and went back forth. They claimed theirs was just as good etc. Finally I got a higher up on the line and the next morning at work they show up with a OEM soundscreen or whatever and installed it in 35 minutes. No problems after that

The Comprehensive part of your car insurance covers this. That's why I carry $50 deductible on Comprehensive. It covers windshields, broken mirrors, hitting a deer, knifed tires, hitting a tire carcass in the road, etc. Well worth the coverage.
When you have a claim, it also does not increase your rates.

Mine got hit going down the interstate during a move to IN 2 years ago. It was over $800 to replace and it cost me a huge uptick in insurance premium in the end. State Farm is now charging the owners for comp claims as if it was an accident ... what next?

I had a small chip for eons above the rear view mirror on my F350. Couldn't see it so out of sight out of mind. Bought my kids to school one morning, parked the truck, came out and hour later and spider webs through the entire windshield. Small chip could have done it and propagated.
