Stopped by a local car audio place today hoping to get some direction and schedule audio upgrades to my factory non B&O system. Instead I left frustrated. The young lady behind the counter was nice enough but I knew right away todays wasn’t going to be my day there. I told her I knew nothing about car audio and wanted options on speaker replacement, a sub woofer, an amp or 2 and just cleaner tighter sound. She asked make and model of my car which was visible parked right out front. Told her ford mustang. She saw the Mach on the fender and asked if it was a “match” E. My head about exploded. I knew right then and there she wasn’t going to be able to help me. She had no idea what factory speakers I had or how many, even after looking in their computer fitment guide. She told me she was sure the installers could use adapters and get some Pioneers to fit. Ummm, thanks but no thanks. I am amazed the store has someone who clearly doesn’t know shit from shinola meeting customers. Amazing.
Maybe someone here can point me in a better direction. What size and how many is the factory system? Decent brand for replacement speakers? Keep factory head unit?

She's basically a cashier, I wouldn't be expecting her to be a product expert.

If you have the 9 speaker system you have a 6.5” and a 3.5” in the door and a 1” tweeter in the A-pillar. The dash has a 3.5” but it’s a fake center channel and sounds better unplugged. The rear deck has a 6.5” coaxial.

There are a few good car audio shops out there but there are also some complete butchers out there.

Think 19 year old that doesn’t know what a fuse is and a pocket full of butt connectors ready to go to town on your wiring harness.
