Perimeter alarm? What is it?

Was just going over my window sticker and noticed perimeter alarm. What exactly is it? Is it always active?

Per previous discussions on this forum, it's just another name for a regular alarm. It senses for opening of the doors, windows, or trunk. Enhanced security package also adds interior sensors that will set off the alarm if someone enters through an open window.

Also, if you leave your windows open and approach the car it will go off if you have the enhanced security package. Keep finding this out the hard way...

I have never once in my life left the windows open when I was more than five feet from the car. Maybe to just step outside to a garbage can, but that's it.

I do in the garage all the time. Then I'll go in to grab something and walk by the car (of course without the key) and blammo.

Oh crap. I had not thought of around home, w/ windows open. I sure hope this is turn off able, then default to always on again next time ignition is activated.
