On my way home from work tonight came off the motorway at my usual junction, turn right at the junction, it was late, very, very quiet, time to give the girl a bit of a tickle.

1st gear and stepped on it, got near to but not quite, the rev limiter so on the 'red line', my ambient lighting is set to that blue colour but, as the Rev counter whizzed round toward and on the red line, the whole rev counter went red!! :eyebulge:

I haven't read this anywhere on here and, to be honest, I've not looked at my manual once since I got the car, it's either a very cool feature, or I was close to breaking something :lol: (or, alternatively, I was hallucinating )

I changed up to second when this happened, all was normal again :shrug:

Did we all know this happens, except me?

Yes its a cool feature, but I hit the rev limiter and it was like deploying paracutes out the back, fuel cut off I guess, only did it the once.

This also happens on Ecobabys, I´ve already test it. Although I was in Sport+ mode, dunno if this also happens in Normal mode...

Happens on all modes irrespective of Engine as long as you've got the ambient lightning on.

I think some of the US lower spec trims don't have the digital backing / lighting behind the rev/mph gauges don't get it - but for the UK it's a common thing.

Oddly enough i'll never know as my car's always got red ambient lighting ;)!

My dealer told me about this feature about 8 months before I picked up the car. Bet that surprised you all!

Very rarely not in Sport+, open car, sit in car, seatbelt on, start car, select Sport+

I am mechanically sympathetic, wouldn't dream of doing this when the engine is cold and I just lingered on the go peddle for a split second more, I need to RTFM soon ;)

It's happened to me a few times with the auto transmission when it kicks down. I think it's a good feature because under those conditions there is no way I'm looking down from the road
