I am getting this weird (metal on metal, I think) noise while accelerating. It sounds like when you put a bunch of nails in a metal box and shake it. It doesn’t matter what gear I am in nor if the car is cold or warm. I hear it inside the cabin, sometimes it’s loud and sometimes it’s subtle. It is coming somewhere from the back side of the dash where the defroster is. It usually occurs when I accelerate lightly from 90-110 km/h.

I went to the dealership, the said it’s from the plastic clips that holds the dashboard and they replaced everything but the sound kept happening then they said they don’t know where it is coming from and just drive it since it doesn’t affect the drivability or performance at all, and I don’t trust them

here is a link to the video of the sound, hopefully you can hear it as soon as the music is off and I start accelerate.

Any help is appreciated.

Does the noise happen around 2k RPMs under light throttle? If so, that's normal. But there is some other noise in the video that sounds like tires on grooved concrete or the stereo. So I'm not sure what exactly I am listening to.

It does happen between 1200-2000 RPM under light acceleration, it becomes more prominent at higher speeds (90-120 kmh). I am guessing that you are referring to the infamous 2k rattle. I have that and it does sound different than this one. The sound is hard to put into wording but here is another link that contains multiple videos of the same sound amplified to my best of abilities for you to hear. It is like getting two screwdrivers and scratching them together.

Hopefully it helps

Did you ever find out what this was? I just heard this exact sound this morning.

Hard to hear from that clip, but sounds like the "2K Rattle" - very common on these coyote engines. I have gone down the rabbit hole to attempt to figure out what it is and so have many, many other drivers. I've seen videos of sales folks at the dealership pulling up with brand new ones and it makes this noise. It seems to be a characteristic of the engine and is nothing to worry about. Mine is probably the worst you could hear, or at least the worst I've heard during my investigation. If it seems to be more pronounced when you are holding steady at a specific RPM and then goes away as you begin to accelerate / climb in RPM's - then its the 2k rattle.

Mine sounds like the first video in the thread, the high pitched metallic whirring sound. Could that still be the 2k rattle or where you saying the second video was closer to the 2k rattle sound?
