Weight vs Rubber

After suspension, it's time to upgrade the wheels. Im actually running the stock 18", and I am attracted by 2 wheels.

Advanti HY Hybris 19", they are super lightweight 20lbs but they can only run a 255front-275rear

Verde Axis 20", the weight is decent at 28lbs and I could use some 275front 285/295rear

My question is, where would I get more advantages in terms of performance:

• Saving 32lbs on the wheels

• Extra weight but more rubber and probably way more grip

Depends. If you're going for 1 fast lap, the lighter and narrower tire may be faster, but over a typical 20-30 no it's suspension, the wider tire has more rubber and will last longer before it overheats, loses grip, and starts to slide around.

If you plan on tracking your car on 85*+ days, I'd go with the wider tire.

Put a 285/35/19 on the 19x9.5 Advanti HY Hybris. I did and it looks good and performs well.

You'll enjoy the reduction of 32 lbs a lot more than the width. Acceleration, braking, ride, handling all get better.

There are other wider lightweight wheel options.

Why not go for the best of both worlds? Light and wide? There are a ton of good options in wider 10"-11" sizes that won't make you compromise on tire width. That said, even that heavier 20" wheel is still lighter than the factory 19" wheels, I believe.

If I had to choose between a heavy 20" and a light 19" wheel, I'd definitely take the light 19" wheel for the ride comfort.

Wheel weight has a very slight effect on acceleration and braking, and the way the physics works, that weight really only shows up at low speeds (i.e. first gear).

Ride comfort (how bumps in the road affect the suspension) is a more significant change in my opinion when going to a lighter wheel.

Isn't it too much a 285 on a 9.5? It looks like that you are starting to lose performance mounting bigger tires without having a wider rim
