I’m installing their CC plates, and am wondering if someone who has these will be kind enough to count the exposed threads above the top nut. I’ve got 4 threads showing and my impact gun doesn’t want to go further. Am I in the clear?

Thanks for any help!

Let me go out into the garage, hold on.

I need to go out there and get the bathroom scale anyway.

4 or so threads is about right. That part of it is really important. If you dont get it honked down with an impact wrench with the spring compressed, it will just loosen down the road.

Hmmm... it looks right compared to yours. I’ll paint a witness mark on it and check after each session. Thanks!

Thanks, Tomster. I'm getting ready to do this myself within the next few weeks. Kinda gotta psych myself up to do it... I've changed front springs on 3 other cars before, but this is the first one I'll need to use an impact wrench to do.

Again, it is critical that you use the impact wrench while the spring is compressed to honk down on that nut. If you don't, later it will let up on you and it just makes what could have been so easy a pain in the ass.

I concur on the impact wrench part. Just do not over do it. 2-3 strikes at 2-3 seconds long after finger tight.

Follow the installation instructions to the letter. Mine came loose and it is a pain in the ass after the fact.

The instructions say to tighten until the sound of the impact gun changes. Even with very short squeezes, the strut rod is spinning now. I never got it to make the “stalling” sound. I’ll measure against the other side tomorrow and see how they compare. You’re right, if it loosens it’ll be a pain.

Thanks!
