Your statement makes more sense than my assumption. However, given the "OK to sell" date was publicized as October 27, 2014, it probably is somewhat of a moot point to have a dealer stock rather than retail order, although it depends on when the scheduling for retail orders would happen relative to the "OK to sell" date.

See this thread.
And last but not mentioned, when Convertible Orders can finally be placed in proper sequence. Oct 27th "Ok to Sell Date" is for Fastback Coupes only. Convertibles, who knows?

yeah I was reading that. I'd rather have my car brand new off the truck than sitting in a lot for a couple of weeks. Glad I haven't changed to stock order.

I believe the important field here is the 'type'. 1 = customer, 2= dealer stock

My dealer got 1 allocation, and they had my order in the system along with their stock orders, and the allocation pulled the stock (type=2) order.

The dealer saw this, and changed the stock order to match my order to ensure I got the first one out of their lot. He did all this without my asking. Hard to beat that service.

The only thing it wouldn't let him do is remove the Enh. Sec. Pkg. from the stock order. I was on the fence about that one anyhow, so I guess I'll get it. :D

They do sit in the plant lot before getting shipped.

good point.

FUCK, oh well. This is my first factory order car, so I'm rightfully worried.
Worry is a complete waste of time and energy. 50% of the time, what you were worrying about never happens. The other 50% of the time, even if what you were worrying about comes true, the worrying accomplished nothing and whatever shit that was going to happen simply happened. Best to realize that worrying about a Vehicle is simply asinine. Its just a "Car"! If you want to worry, worry that you will keep your job and good health so that the Repo Man doesn`t end up yanking it away on a Tow Truck Hook.

When I bought my 2011 Mustang new, it came with 350 miles on it. When I asked what that was about, they told me that the only car they had in the system which matched my requirements (Kona Blue V6 Premium automatic) was at a dealer up in New Hampshire, and so they had to drive the car down to deliver to me. It annoyed me for a half a second before I completely forgot about it.

When I purchased my 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid SE last July, the only Dealer that had (exactly) the Color and Options I wanted was over 200 miles North of me. I decided to drive from Palm Beach up I95 to Melbourne, FL near the Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, Kelly Ford to be exact, and made the deal and then drove my new Vehicle home. Figured rather then have a Car Salesman or a Transporter "break wind" in my New vehicle, I`d just drive up there after the Deal was struck and drove it back myself.

Fortunately for me, the Inventory Manager at the dealer is a newish acquaintance of mine and knows all too well that I want the car as soon as I can. I'm fairly certain it's in times like these that dealers know they make or break loyal customers. If he treats me right, I'll likely never buy a car anywhere else. So far, so good.

It's not like they won't be getting more allocations quickly enough.

Just keep in mind that before you go beating up your dealer, he is more at the mercy of the regional inventory manager. The regional guy is who selects from your DORA against allocations and then divvies them out. All your priority number does is tell how bad your dealer wants the car in relation to his other allocations. Its a 75% business, 25% political process. Sometimes the ratio is off a little.

Then I'm afraid to ask, what's type X? I just assumed that was an indicator that I ordered with x plan.

I talked to my dealer yesterday about that. He said that when they place an order with x-plan, it automatically goes in as a retail order. That just may be how this specific dealer does it and might not be indicative of all Ford dealers ..
My order is X-Plan and it was placed as a stock order on 5/20. This is just how your dealer wants to handle it. I got my VIN last week and although I can't see my order yet on http://www.cotus.ford.com/ , I can see it on http://www.etis.ford.com/home.do

I was told my build date would be the week of August 28th, but I just made a change to add the NAV package, so hopefully that doesn't affect the build date.

Well, it's entirely likely I mixed up what the dealer said with the proper term or maybe he was 'fast and loose' with the term he used. Perhaps the 1 and 2 he was referencing was part of the priority as in 1Xs are customer and 2Xs are stock, as was stated previously.

Now that I look at my original order, I'm not sure about it. BTW, I too am ordering with X-Plan.

What he did make clear was that he's not heard of anything other than stock orders being scheduled yet. He said he was on the phone with the regional coordinator 4 times already today, and I called him at Noon. Not for Mustang related issues, be he was keeping in the loop in that regard.

He did say he'll be getting the DORA tomorrow, and should know more about the precise scheduling soon. Of course, I'm just repeating the words he used, as I really don't have a clue what that means. :gossip:
