Gents, Where is the VIN located on the engine? The question crossed my mind the other day & wondered if it was similar to the 65-70 models that I'm familiar with. TIA

Drivers side rear, just above the oil pan. The last 8 or so of the VIN are etched into the block.

Rex, same side for the transmission as well just in case you want to check your VIN out on the tranny case.

Not sure who your reputable sources as they are not reputable IMO.
The VIN on my R is clearly indicated on the block as "H5520147".

Haven’t checked the transmission, but noticed the etching on the engine block at the first oil change. Can see it through the wheel well with the left front tire off.
