VIN Identification

So, I understand it's the "P8J" in the VIN that makes it a GT350, but I'm trying to figure out if there's anything else in the VIN that identifies a Base, Tech, Track, or R?

I wonder what the 2 numbers/letters between the J and the G mean, if anything? I can't find any consistencies with them between the models....

example: 1FA6P8J "ZX" G552.... this one's a Tech Pack, White w/Blue.

here's another: "Z9"...... Track Pack, AG w/Black Roof

I just can't believe the package isn't designated in the VIN....????

List your "XX" and tell us your specs to see if we can find any consistencies.......

Mine is "Z4" ..... Track Pack, DIB w/White

The VIN does not distinguish tech, track, base.

The digit after the Z is the check digit. It's a checksum based on the rest of the VIN, it has absolutely no bearing on its trim level or options.

Allow me to break down a GT350 VIN. Let's use 1FA6P8JZ0G5521434, which is a blue '16 Tech Pkg at a dealer near me....

1 = Country of production (USA)
F = Manufacturer's code (Ford)
A = Division within manufacturer
6 = Safety/Braking Type
P = Passenger Car (as opposed to SUV, truck, crossover, van, etc.)
8 = Mustang
J = Shelby GT350 Coupe
Z = Engine Code (5.2L FPC V8)
0 = Check Digit (must be a number 0-9 or the letter X)
G = Year Digit (2016)
5 = Assembly Plant Code (Flat Rock, MI)
521434 = Sequential build #, which started at 520001 for 2016 Shelbys

The VIN is not tied to the sequential build number (chassis number), but they are relatively close.

I wonder if I have X instead of a number is because mine got something called modification package and its a bit different to be able to ship it to the ME ! for example different radio frequencies and KM/hr instead of MPH and spare tire is standard.
