Anyone know if any of the vendors are running veterans day discounts to active duty/retired/reserve etc. military members?

I know they are typically competitive but instead of offering the typical pricing are they doing anything special for vets?

most companies do provide a military discount all year round, probably just need to call in and and provide your MIL email address for validation, since I heard taking a picture/scanning Military ID is illegal. Probably be hard to do a sell just for veterans since there is a lot of dishonest people out there that would try to take advantage of this. It will be hard to manage and confirm whether the person calling in/ordering online is actually active military or a veteran. just my opinion

It's called a dd214 to prove your a vet ;)
Most companies take your word for it...which can be good and bad. Using a valid .mil address is the best way to confirm active duty status as we are definitely not supposed to make photocopies of our CACs.

Most veterans don't have a valid .mil address. Those are considered active duty personnel.

there is no real way to test the validity of a .mil address is there?
not saying to lie. but potentially just use one that you had while on active duty status?

Copy of LES with blacked out sensitive info. I've used that plenty of times.

lol, I didn't even have a .mil address when I served from 2001 to 2004. My unit kept us in the field all of the time. My PITA commander even schedule a FTX during the super bowl one year. We were in Germany and broke her vehicle's heater and tent heater.

.mil domain is owned by the government. We can use it to get a copy of Microsoft Office for $20 or Norton antivirus for free. The company sends a link to your .mil address and you follow it to their secure site to process your order.

Of course you still have to have an active .mil email address for this to work. Otherwise a copy of your DD214 should suffice. Copying your CAC is bad idea. My last base did an exercise where IG inspectors went online, copied a bunch of CAC IDs they found and printed their own. They then gained access to the base with these fake CAC cards and entered quite a few facilities that were suppose to be secured. Needless to say, many squadrons got a very large ass-chewing for their lack of security.
