Popped the hood tonight after going for a drive just to look over everything and noticed a small amount of oil leaking out of the bottom driver side VCT solenoid. I try to look over the engine bay often and this is the first time i’ve noticed this. Did some research and saw other people have had issues with the rubber grommet seal around the sensor leaking. I’m assuming it’s just the seal that needs to be replaced, but is there any other possible causes for this?

If it has been some time before you drove it, the rubber could have contracted. In that time oil could have slipped through until the expansion process.
