My dad is the 2nd owner of a 2020 GT with modified headlights. Both of them leak (ie, water gets in after a wash), so I'm trying to help him source replacements without paying 1k each.

There are tooons of headlights on eBay and FB Marketplace but the majority have some kind of damage:

1. I think there are 4 tabs that can be broken off fairly easily?
2. Should I immediately dismiss a headlight with a repaired tab?
3. Some have cracks and and have been plastic welded but these seem like higher risk for water getting in

Any other tips would be appreciated. I haven't seen a headlight out of the car yet.

Thanks in advance.

There are dedicated Mustang wrecker yards like Midway.
There are also nationwide chains like LKQ who supply undamaged used parts. My local body shop gets used OEM parts from them a lot.
There are also regular local and regional yards that are connected to a nationwide network that can often get undamaged take offs.
I watch a YouTube channel, South Main Auto, out of upstate New York and he has often mentioned that his local yard (a place named Wilbert's) takes extra care getting parts and ships across the country.
I'm pretty sure I'd go with something like that over Ebay. Of course it's going to take more effort on your part doing research and calling places but you'll end up with better used parts.
