USB ports can potentially work several ways. Data in/out but also 5VDC power out. Does any one know if the two USB ports can power external devices? If so, what is the max amperage that can be utilized?
I want to use a 10" tablet that can be powered from an external USB port.

I have been unable to find any specs on the USB ports, other than the user manual showing the locations.

I haven't been able to find the amperage rating of the USB ports, but it won't charge my phone as quickly as the wallwart. This implies that it's delivering less than 1.8A.

"B.Crowder": Thanks for the info...I have been trying to use the dash mounted USB for recharging without success. I will be running the recharge cable to the central console instead! (I wonder why Ford chose to use different DC transformers for the two USB ports). I noticed that Amazon.com is selling digital USB current meters for less than $20. I may buy one to double check the 2.1 amp USB in the central console.

Has any Forum member checked the actual amps-out available from the two USB ports?
