Its funny the S197 mirrors were a lot bigger than these ones, and when i saw the US ones, I was a bit worried as am used to a big mirror, but these are fine and I dip them for parking

would be interesting to see if with the guys cracking the coding in the ecu recently if you could activate the blind spot detection in the side mirrors and get the appropriate mirrors from the states at the same time. I recently rented an ecoboost in vegas which had it and found it quite handy.

Bit more complicated than that.

There is extra hardware needed (radar pods) that are missing from our cars.

I had a discussion with Benny at Levittown months ago about this.

As per the Recaros, he was unable to confirm if they would physically fit.

There are also quite a few different versions to choose from as the US get different mirror options and they vary in price by about £250/300.

Going on the fact that the wiring for the lights is not compatible it would come as no surprise to find the mirror wiring is not compatible either, even if the mirrors will physically bolt on.

Amazing that the changes they made for the Euro version are so complicated wiring wise. ie lights and mirrors.

Thought they would go for the cheapest option like not swapping the centre console round.

Gone are the days of losing the mirror on my old Renault 6 so just getting something similar for a couple of quid from the car parts shop in the high street.

I personally don't mind the EU spec mirrors.

It's a big car and a fastback, so anything that aids rear visibility is a plus as far as I'm concerned, and the additional shaping (angle to the top of the mirrors) means they suit the car much more than the rather 'flat-topped' US versions as they mirror (unintended pun) the curvature and lines of the body much better!

Oh yeah, the other issue is, being the passenger side, our driver's mirror would have the "objects in the mirror..." warning stamp, and it's not small either.

I don't mind the look of the mirrors, I just find it difficult to see anything in them without having to lean right back.

I pretty much dislike the 'euro' size/shaped mirror. It's probably designed to the most aesthetically pleasing appearance within the requirements, but I still prefer the US design. I don't really see the benefit of the added height at the inboard side?

More height means you can angle them down more whilst retaining rearward visibilty thus making reversing easier.

At least it would if they had a full range of movement. :lol:

They are not that dear
There are 3 versions
Basic
Blind spot mirror built into the actual mirror
and the dearest
the BLIS mirrors, as they have all the electronics built into them
the wiring would not be as it connects up to the side radar sensors, and also works with the rear collision detection
