US door mirrors retro fit

Given how fugly the euro mirrors are, has anyone done a US mirror swap over here?

Was there a specific reason for the change? I'm thinking NCAP.

What's wrong with them? Can't really say I have an issue with the mirrors.

Levittown Ford were unable to confirm to me that the US ones would fit.

Given that the rear lights have completely different connectors, never mind operation, it's a reasonable assumption that there will be problems with mirrors.
