Upgraded to a 3.55 carrier

So I upgraded from 3.31s in my base to a 3.55 carrier. Carrier is brand new zero miles. Was taken off of a car that was totaled from hail. Anyways, I notice that a thud in the drivetrain like the diff is taking a split second to engage/disengage. I really didint notice this with the 3.31 but the 3.31 also didnt feel as aggressive. I really think it might be the 2 piece drive shaft. BTW car is tuned for the 3.55

How much backlash do you have in the R&P setup?

I need to recheck it but when I put in the haft shafts I really couldnt feel any. Obviously there is some but it really wasnt noticeable.

Its not going to be real noticeable unless you're way out of whack. That's why you check it with a dial indicator when shimming the differential to get the proper lash setup... Even then, if you grab ahold of the ring gear and hold the pinion from turning, you will feel some lash as you move it up and down (well, in rotation).
