Upgrade to sync 3?

Searching around, but is it possible to upgrade the 2015 models to sync 3?

I connected to my wifi told it to install updates, but it's looking for a USB drive. Any guidance?

The real question is, if I find a SYNC3 head unit, could it be swapped with a SYNC2 unit? There will eventually be 2016's in the junkyard.

There has to be some software flashing procedure that has to be done on the new unit, but I don't mind slipping a Ford tech some cash.

I just sent a message to Levittown Ford parts guy on this forum to ask if we were even dreaming. I know its $2000 but it makes my 50th car complete for me.

If they end up adding android auto and car play compatibility to sync 3 I'm all over upgrading. Its the only thing I would say my 2015 is lacking.

Most likely the site is buying the parts necessary from Ford and building a DYI kit along the lines of what people on this forum did for base stereo to MyFord Touch. Hopefully we'll have an adventurous forum member if good documentation skills do the same thing and save us the third party markup.

Anybody have any idea how much a whole Sync 3 unit costs, I assume it wouldn't be much more expensive then Sync 2.
