About $900 is the msrp. Check out parts sites and search for sync3. There's tons of variants but the price is always about the same.

Wow. Yeh, $2000 for that upgrade is a bit too much for my taste. It's just not a big enough deal (IMO). I could see spending maybe $500 or so but for $2000, I feel like I could just take the hit on trading in my 2015 for a 2016 if I wanted it that bad. As someone else above said, hopefully someone more adventurous on this forum will figure it out and post instructions and part numbers.

Here's a follow up question pertaining to Sync 2 though:

If you have the 8" screen with the MyFord Touch, is it possible to add nav somehow if you didn't have it originally? That seems like it would be strictly software based since the screen quadrants are set up exactly the same way. Plus, I want to say the car has a GPS built-in anyway because it gives me Lat/Long on the Info screen. Thoughts?

Nav can be added to Sync 2; I did it. Just search the forum and you'll find the answers and procedures.

I'm pretty sure it's more than just the screen, but the wiring and computer itself are different (the modules behind the screen portion).

That's probably why the upgrade kit is $2k.

I have been told based on the part numbers it was a non nav unit. These are not upgrade-able to nav (at this time).

If I can get my hands on that one (in case it didn't sell) or one like it I'll let you guys know how difficult or easy it is to install (aka how plug 'n play it is or not).

Seriously interested in this.

$2000 seems exuberant, but I'd definitely buy a 2016 module for $600 if has plug-and-play compatibility with 2015's MyFordTouch.

I had the pleasure of driving the 2016 this week, It was my rental in Raleigh and I put 500 miles on it. About half with the top down.

The Sync 3 had no Navigation, so the pinch to zoom and such weren't available to try.

During the day it has a nice pleasing blue and white background, the night time is just black. Not very exciting. The one I drove had bad bluetooth issues, changing song resulted in slipping and pauses which I found to be pretty bad. It was also my first time behind the wheel of an Ecoboost, which was nice, but no V8.

$2000 is WAY to much for this, it would have to be in the 500-100 range to even peek my curiosity.

As badly as I wanted it, I am content with MFT for the moment. An upgrade will be available for FAR less in the years to come. For the meantime, I am good where I am, I know my price point and the value of the S3.

Time to find a new Spoiler.
