Here in P.R some Ford dealers are asking 25K-30K over msrp for Broncos. Mustangs black accent for $50k-$55k and PP1 for over $60K.

Went to the Hyundai dealer and they had the Palisade for $7K over msrp.

After swearing up and down no way no how could they move off 1000 below msrp, local dealer took 2000 off everything for president day. And the car they paid over msrp to get is now 1500 below msrp.

Then all the discounts evaporated 2 days later. I texted my sales guy. Just 2000 more to go and I'd buy their car...

What a freaking scam.

I can tell you this, if this supply chain doesnt fix. people will not be letting used cars go, they will keep them longer, prices will go up, and new cars will get higher adm's and it actually wouldn't surprise me if those adm's become msrp in a few years. ie. people paying 5k over willingly, raise msrp 5k in next few years.

I gave for it.
Now, it's offer is $6,000 less..............

I’m talking longer term. If these supply issues stay for years, more and more kids are turning 16 and needing cars. Atleast I think this would raise the issue.

Then again: many kids now a days just want to use Uber

I stopped by my local Ford dealer today - they had 3 plain Jane GTs with $6K markups. Rangers were marked up 5K as was a 2.7 EB F150. The Bronco on the showroom floor was marked up $50K.

The last money grab before the end of the chip crisis.

Now end of February '22 and my mid North Carolina dealer hasn't changed. They have all Mustangs, including a couple 2022's for a little below Sticker - except a GT500. It is still $21k over. They didn't have a Mach 1.

Their one and only Bronco was at or a little below Sticker.

I guess Farley's message hasn't made it out to Washington state yet. My local dealers have adm's of

$20k bronco
$10k mach 1
$10 mach E
$7k bronco sport
$5k explorer
$30k gt500

the explorer is more of a recent development but anything like the shelby, bronco, or mach 1 has been like this since day 1 of their availability. The entire run of gt350 production was like this for every dealer within driving distance of me. I'm thankful for Granger Ford in iowa because otherwise i would not have my mustang had i been forced to buy in state.
I bought a GT/CS from a dealer in Northern Virginia on Valentine's day, and there were several broncos on the lot selling AT sticker. No ADM at all.

This thread is such a bummer, too much complaining… dealers can’t charge what people won’t pay but everyone wants to complain instead of just refusing to overpay…

I was going to order a 22 gt/cs pp. The dealer wouldn't give me a price on the phone. They said they knew how much it would be but I had to come in and "sit down" with them. Well no thanks. Ford still doesn't have prices up on 22's. I'm not going to negotiate a blind price with a dealer. I will keep mine and they can keep their shady mark-up tactics. When the chip shortage ends and it will, all these brand new cars are going to be heavily discounted so they can get rid of them. Thousands of models are still sitting at manufacterers. Not just ford. These 5k or more markups are going to be 5k discounts to get stuff off the lot.

Good position. Do you think a GT/CS will be heavily discounted after the shortage ? I don't know.
As far as I have read here, there are actually some dealerships who do not seem to respect agreements and reserve to keep the car if markups are not paid or just keep the car unconditionally.
In case you decide to talk with them, I would exclude such possibilities in the contract. If there are no prices yet, that could be an advantage to avoid a possible markup, which is then also excluded by contract. But anyway, if you want to avoid any kind of negotiations, then better wait. I got my GT (PP1) heavily reduced right before the price hike in 2020 without even having to negotiate. But I see a $10k increase as well here from the same dealer nowaways and he does not negotiate because of the situation we are in. So chances might be not in your favor, I suppose.

charlied,
Mooresville Ford in central North Carolina, where I purchased at in 2021, currently has three 2022 Mustangs listed (1 GT Premium and 2 Ecoboosts). All have prices listed. The GT's sticker is $49,100 and is marked at $48,991. Not much off, but not marked up.
