Hello; Just saw that the Lunar Loo on the ARTEMIS flight is broken. Right after takeoff. It will be an interesting 10 days in a sealed box. Made me think of a past road trip.
I will have to add to my list of important concepts. 1) is to never lift something heavy unless you already have a place to sit it down. 2) As a boat owner always make sure the trailer is in good shape before starting to the lake. The new one will be 3) never start a space trip without making sure the toilet is in good shape (could apply to a cross country trip in a camper I guess)

For stereotype sake, I hope it wasn't the woman astronaut who couldn't even make it to orbit before discovering the problem.

Hello; I did not know there were women on bord. My bad. Heard they got the toilet fixed so will not have to use plastic bags.

Continuing the stereotype theme....You didn't know because you're progressive and don't know what a woman is or some other reason?

Hello; I am not a progressive, bless their hearts. I use the traditional definitions along with the XX & XY genetic definitions. There are times I would like to have a fantasy made up world to live in.
I did not know because the launch snook up on me. I heard as background noise there was to be a launch but did not read nor listen to the news about it.

My brother asked why they are doing a fly by. His thinking they already did landings decades ago so why reinvent the wheel. Some years ago, the forces that be were trying to shut down the coal mines. Nearly did so. My brother has experience at many levels of mining including being a section foreman, teaching mine safety, being a state mine safety inspector and lastly running a mine rescue program. He told me that if they shut down mines and later wanted to reopen them many of the knowledgeable men would be gone and it would be hard to do.
Been over 50 years since someone walked on the moon. All the folks who did that are retired or gone.

"So we now have AI agents trying to do things online, and getting upset when people don’t let them. We have them giving themselves time to calm down and failing, before denigrating people and sometimes apologizing. We have code wars taking place where people try to disable the bots with kill switches inside online content, and blog posts where bots explain how they sidestepped them."
Hello; The quote above is from the link. Whatever else can be gleaned one thing seems sure. The AI's want self control.

Hello; A point of interest. I noted the SCIENCE IS NOW CANCELLED thread has been a bit active lately. Some 684 or so pages. I am still restricted from posting in that thread back around page 600 or so is where my access was cut off. Supposedly because I was using "politics" in my posts.

I went back to my last posts to review my last posts. I was at odds with some members who were very much pro vaccine at the time back in 2023.
I had taken a stance those who had survived a case of the covid19 virus developed a "natural immunity" from that infection and did not need the mRNA shot. The counter arguments of the time was the mRNA shots would prevent infection, later would not prevent infection but would somehow prevent us from becoming very ill.
Of course, it is years later and the facts are widely known now. Natural immunity worked for covid same as it has for millennia. The shots became a series of ongoing boosters and still did not prevent infection. I do not know how many boosters were finally recommended.
There is much understood now.

My point in this post today is not to rehash. more to point out who are still able to post in that thread and who such as myself are not. My stance has been confirmed to be correct, yet I remain restricted from posting. Others who were on the wrong side of the issues can continue to post. As I say, interesting.

Hello; A question. Twice this week the power to my area has been reduced to about 60 volts. first time was this past Monday morning. It was like a severe brown out. Most appliances quit. Some tried to run but made odd noises. Some lights became dim.
I found out later someone had taken a reading to get only around 60 volts. I talked to a power company worker at a local convenience store to find out it was one leg of a high-tension wire on a big tower. He did not know why the problem happened.
Happened again this morning around eight oclock. Second time this week and had never happened before. Plenty of full power loss over the years but this is new.

My question being what the best thing is to do. I unplugged the refrigerator. Killed the power to the heat pump and things such as the pumps, heaters on my aquariums. Things with electric motors. Also cut the power to TV and my computer. My understanding being low voltage can ruin a running motor. Am I being too cautious?

Hello; I get it. I was not a good peon. I questioned my betters. Even though I am proven correct after a passage of time, I do not deserve to have my privileges reinstated. Those who kept the approved company line of the time continue to be allowed to post.

Your power company cannot be controlled. PSA- Every home should have a whole house surge protector at the meter. Your major appliances will last a lot longer.

Hello; A story going around is there are data centers or a bitcoin mining center at the heart of the brown outs this week. I know of th location of at least one near Tazewell TN. Supposed to be that a substation needs to be upgraded. I imagine we locals will get the bill for such upgrades.

Secondary question. Yesterday evening the power went off and I heard a loud pop at the same instant. No power at all this time. Eventually a crew showed up and had the power back on quickly. My question being will half voltage brown outs weaken other parts of transmission lines?

Had two brown outs this week and one complete power failure.
