Hello; Not sure what to make of this event. Not a big deal to be sure, but a suprise. Stopped in at a Hardees to use the facilities and get a cup of coffee around 3;30 PM in the afternoon. I was told they did not serve coffee except with breakfast. None the rest of the day.

I have stopped at Hardees for coffee for decades. First time i ever heard of this.
Can you Jack Nickleson a cup?

Order breakfast but hold the eggs, bacon, potatoes?

Eco-extremism is making us all sick (msn.com)

“Nor does the eco-promise of veganism stack up. Sure, it doesn’t demand the same energy as feeding, slaughtering and processing meat, but many vegan staples (lentils, exotic fruits, nuts) are flown in from across the world, while avocados in particular are immensely energy-intensive to farm. Soaring demand for them in places like Britain and America has led to severe shortages in Kenya and Mexico, the latter of which now makes more money from avocado export than from petroleum and – here’s a fun fact for eco-mad vegans – drives illegal deforestation to make way for more avocado plantations. “

“Greenism in general, of course, is full of mad assertions, which leads to much broader-scale destruction. Take the obsession with killing off affordable – and clean – energy sources. Eco-zealots campaigns against nuclear power has had the effect, in Europe, of keeping people more dependent, not less, on gas and coal, and making the continent utterly dependent on Russian pipelines – not ideal once Russia starts a war on its borders.”

“They hate fracking. They hate North Sea oil. Their lobby has resulted in greater, not lesser, threat to mankind by making us dependent on rogue and hostile states, and almost as bad, has forced widespread acceptance that we all need to make our lives shoddier to “save the planet”. “

Hello; My comment- I have been calling this a “do without” future in posts.

“The harm and hypocrisy goes on and on. We are in a cost of living crisis, and food poverty is a real spectre now in Europe and the UK. But this lot wants “the planet” to come first, always before the grubby parasites – humans – that populate the planet. One of the great leaps forward of modern life is the mass nourishment conferred by crops grown on a mass scale – which can only be grown with the help of fertiliser, which in itself relies on ammonia, which is a byproduct of natural gas. Billions rely on these crops. But the radicals, in their shrill and relentless rhetoric, don’t care.”

“The thinking behind some of the most powerful and pervasive virtue movements of today – and none is stronger than greenism – is anything but virtuous. Greenism, the master category in which veganism is a subset, is misleading, mendacious and deranged. And it is harming us, destroying our bodies and societies.”

Hello; Guess by now most all have heard of the downgrade by Fitch of the USA from AAA to AA. This is a big deal. Maybe the bigger of problems we face. I am of the opinion too much spending, printing money and debt are the reasons.

Hello; I dodged a big one today. Got a warning on my weather radio of a storm coming. Powered down my sensitive electronics. Went out on the back porch to watch the storm, ready to go to my below ground shelter.
Had lots of thunder but little wind and only moderate rain. I am watching the Knoxville TN news and see that to my south lots of serious damage. Somehow the bad part missed my place. Places in Knoxville I sometimes visit were hit hard.

Customer, I don't eat gmo food.
Customer 15 seconds later, I love those vegan muffins made from veggies and plants, along with the plant based meat.
I think their one revolving brain cell went on a vacation.

Wrong, yet again. Fitch stated that Republican led insurrectionist attitude and domestic terrorism is a strong reason for the downgrade.

Hello; That is interestin, but hard to buy. Thing is the threat of downgrading the AAA rating has been around for quite some time. The surprise is it took them so long to finally do it. Interesting that you seem to feel things other than spending, debt and monetary policy does not count count much more when it comes to such a financial rating.

Are you the same fellow who does not think EV incentives, tax credits and such do not add to the national debt or come from taxpayers pockets?

You have a mean streak, Jeff. First you pull the rug out from under the flat earthers and now this.

Hello; Did an edit after a read thru of my comment. It is not that I do not understand why they want things like unlimited spending, printing money, huge national debt, and modern monetary spending to be OK. If these things are not acceptable then all the massive spending needed to create a new world order including a redone electric grid cannot happen. Things such as student loan debts cannot be forgiven or more BEV incentives cannot happen if reckless spending cannot continue.

A degraded national credit rating will have some serious consequences. AA is not exactly a "bad" rating but it is worse than AAA and will likely do at least two things. The government may have to offer a higher interest return in order to sell bonds and treasury notes. Even before this rating downgrade some serious players around the world were making moves to use something other than the US dollar as a trade currency. If the US dollar is no longer the fiat currency around the world we in the USA will suffer.

Somewhat neutral on loan debt, but not neutral on the crazy, corrupt pricing of universities. Whether they should be forgiven or not aside, that's the root cause for massive student debt.
