@Torrie

There's a new tsb15-0192.pdf to address the smoke issue on the EB. Have you seen it, and do you know if this will affect current tunes if/when done?

I have the old separator. (Bar code). I don't currently see smoke @ idle with dp. May need to idle longer.

If the strategy changes a new file will have to be made based on that.

Watch Fuel Pressure. If it stays stable during WOT you are good. If you want to be cautious run the W file and also verify FRP stability in cold weather. If fuel pressure degrades too far and it leans out inadvertently bad things can happen.
Hey, I have a some questions:

What is a "good" fuel pressure range ?

what is a good FRP range ? fuel rail pressure ?

where do I get a configuration file for my X4 ?, should I email you about it?

How different is the winter file compare to the Summer file ?
I asked because I change to winter file today and to me it was a very noticeable difference.
Do you know how much difference it makes in hp ?

thanks for your help :)

Ps. I figured others probably have the same questions,
so that is why I asked you here.

Hey everyone,

First day on the forum, and my first post on the forum. I'm excited to say I just purchased my 2016 Mustang EB (Auto :frusty:) last night, and i'm heading to the dealership to pick her up in T-minus 3 hours.

Relevant section:
Regarding the warranty and aftermarket tuning. I read on another thread that the newer cars these days can detect an ECU flash regardless of the traditional masking techniques. I have every intention on spending money on aftermarket performance parts so long as i can avoid voiding my warranty. So essentially what I'm asking is how does the tune effect the warranty? Can the tune still be masked/hidden from the dealership? Have there been any common mechanical issues reported on these Ecoboost engines after being tuned? (explosions, fires, etc)

I'm already sure I'm going to buy this tune based on reading the first ten pages of this thread, but I like to be prepared lol.

Thanks.

There's been many debates on this, last I heard no ford tech has confirmed or denied them being able to tell. I can tell you my personal experience, I flashed my car about 60 times. My car was brought into ford and I had my turbo replaced, nothing to do with any of the tuners, just bad turbo. I had disconected my battery and flashed back to stock a week before service. I know for sure they looked at the ecu because the service advisor asked me point blank if I had any aftermarket work done on the computer. I said no, crossed my fingers and they replaced everything 100% under warranty. I even had an ATM fmic clearly hanging out the front. Not one issue. So........ I have heard all sorts of things, but I listened to a retired ford mechanic and did what he told me and it worked out for me.

I can only speak for my own experience. I have had the tune for probably 18k or so now and had absolutely no issues what so ever with Torrie's tune. He has tons of experience and provides outstanding customer service. If you take the car to the dealer you should return the car to stock. You are going to hear all kinds of answers to weather the dealer can tell if your car was tuned, to the best of my knowledge they can only see the time since the last flash. The tune alone isn't going to blow your car up. This forum probably represents less than 10% of the ecoboost owners in the world...sure you are going to read a horror story here and there but we only know what the person says happens, not the fact the plugged something else in when they already had a tune and crazy shit like that.

Busser48 post has the best going info right now to not get caught, if you have to take the car in for service.

Fact is Ford can deny warranty for tune if you get caught. "Can" is not "they will". It depends on so many factors... much as I love the tune, I realize it is possible to have a warranty claim denied for my actions. It will not be Torrie's fault.

There are a lot of ways your car could go into a dealer without you being able to flash it back, for example. Then what? No one on here knows for sure... no one can guarantee you the dealer will or will not deny warranty work.

I'm not trying to spread FUD... I have a tune... love it... but I know it can be an expensive gamble.

Far as issues, there are grumbles here and there on the forum but nothing concrete. Even Torrie said people had issues last year running the summer tune during the winter, but he did not elaborate. Then it is hard to say "x" is related to the tune or the fault of Ford. Then people have other work done... hard to pin the issue on one thing, if there is an issue. Everyone with the same tune would have to have the same issue and then say it is "x tune". Before that happens, I'd guess there would be a fix for the tune (hence the winter tune).

Again want to make sure I'm not stating facts, just facts of my experience and what I have been through. Good luck!

Just curious, do the other tunes out have a Summer and Winter tune or is it just one blanket off the shelf plus whatever e-tune you get?

As far as I know, I think torrie is the only one doing the summer/winter thing

Ok that makes me feel alot better. Honestly I sitting here reading into what i wanted to do with the car, bc when I was buying it i had no intention of running it stock. This is the first brand new car I've ever had, graduated college last may, and finally making adult money. I'm not as knowledgeable as i'd like to be with tuning, and i'm trying to learn up. All i know is the last thing I'm willing to do is leave this car as is considering the potential of the engine, and the available aftermarket. Half of me just wants to attach every bolt on I can afford, and tune the hell outta the thing. Warranty is great and all but not if its going to impede the majority of the fun I intended to have. I have a fair amount of faith in Ford's engineering, enough to expect this car to have zero issues until I'm ready to sell it in 2-3 years (naive?). I'm assuming bolt on components like CAI, Exhaust, etc dont immediately void the warranty? But rather if a mechanical issue were to develop they would attribute that to the aftermarket parts and deny fixing it under warranty, right?
I think i'm just gonna pull trigger on the Unleashed Tune, probably intake, DP, Tires, IC, and just hope nothing bad happens. Worst case scenario I lose alot of money on fixing something that broke lol
