I'm still paranoid from running the Summer tune a few times when it was 40-50 out never went full throttle, too late to check logs though haha..

For real though, I should be good right? [emoji29]

Have a problem? Exactly what kind of problem?
It wasn't but a couple weeks ago I was running my E30 tune and a couple of the days the temps dropped into the 30s. I didn't get nuts on those days but on the days it was at least mid 40s I would WOT, shred the tires, bang through the gears....get nuts! Hell, the night my brother in law (he drives a '16 Golf R) did a few races it was in the upper 40s...maybe. And even now running the 93S tune, some days the temps are over 50 like today and the very next day it can be in the 30s, I don't switch the tune from 93S to 93W.
My Focus ST you tuned ran the 93 tune all year and there were a few occasions I would run the E30 tune even in the winter. Granted when I traded it in it only had 14,000 miles (21 months of ownership) but she pulled just as hard the day I installed the tune as the day I traded it in.

The Focus ST doesn't have the capability to supersede the fueling requirements of this powertrain. Watch Fuel Pressure. If it stays stable during WOT you are good. If you want to be cautious run the W file and also verify FRP stability in cold weather. If fuel pressure degrades too far and it leans out inadvertently bad things can happen.

Ok. I'll give the W tune a try but if it sucks out the fun factor then it's back to the S tune! :headbang:

Come spring, I'm going to be doing some upgrades and we're gonna push my tunes right to that edge cause I'm not getting beat by my brother in law's cute little car again!!

Dealer is only going to see how long since last time it was changed, not how many times you have changed it. I have 24k miles on my car since last October and 16k has been with Torries' Tune (previous was AM). You just do some data logs and he will fine tune it for you in no time. I've never seen such quick customer service before. If you change something up just do some logs and submit them...it's that simple.
Happy Thanksgiving all.. reading this thread breaks my heart.

I looked up Unleashed Tuning and it looks like Torrie has tuned A LOT OF CARS.. from Hellcat, to Viper, Focus ST, SHO, etc.. So his experience is second to none.

With that being said, since there is that 1% chance of engine failure with or without a tune and that would not be wise for warranty purposes. Things happen, maybe my car was built on a Friday night and the piston rings didn't seat correctly.. or perhaps the wrist pin is loose from the connecting rod and caused a spun bearing (Basically a manufacturer screwup).

All of these things can happen with or without a tune. I want to do this tune so bad but the conflicting ideas regarding the dealer reading seeing the flash is complicating things.

If I get a tune and if Torrie's tune caused an catastrophic engine fail, I will pay for it.. I will NOT however pay for something that wasn't related to the tune. I'm sure Ford will find a way to be a dick and blame everything on the tune regardless if it was the actual culprit.

People say flash it to stock, cycle the key and some say regardless of what you do, they will know how many times it's been flashed. I tried searching all over the forums only to get conflicting ideas

With this being said..

1. I'm still not giving up and will device a plan in case something happens in the event I'm tuned. I don't know, save 7k? Sorry, I'm not young no more but I LOVE a fun car.. I can still live right?

2. Torrie, if I get your tune and drive it conservatively (just punching it every now and then) with your past experience, will this help alleviate some of my concerns as far as engine failure? You have tuned MANY cars and if I do tune my car, it will only be from you at this point.

I understand that you have to pay to play but at the same time, I don't think researching, weighing your options, getting a second opinion is a bad idea.

Terrance

Happy Thanksgiving, your concerns make sense but you putting too much thought into something going wrong. You don't need to push the car to it's limits with a tune, Torrie's stock summer and winter tunes aren't going to push your car to the limits by any means and they are night and day difference between stock. Get yourself a intercooler, some new plugs, and a Tune from Torrie and you will be happy.

I do my best to avert powertrain failure. That is the last thing anyone wants to occur.

Thank you Ron and Torrie!

You both have been very helpful and looks like I will be getting this tune shortly for my xmas present.

Sorry, I worry too much but I just want to know my choices and be prepared :)

Thanks guys

Does the user have the ability to adjust any parameters using the SCT X4?
