Undoubtedly lame windshield wiper question.

A friend asked me how to change his windshield wipers. I could not figure out how to remove the old blades. Maybe vision too degraded. Any advice? I'll give you full credit ;)

I thought was a lever above or beneath the spring in 2nd picture. But nothing moves.

Turned out the prescribed way to release was to relocate the ends of the coil spring into the wider notch which in theory would reduce the friction enough to pull the blade off the post on the arm. So, the $2 blades instead of the $2.25 ones with a release lever. From the Wernher Von Braun school of design (Once the Rockets go up, who cares where they come down. That's not my department)

Since trash anyway, I just cut thru one side of the frame and pulled the wiper off.
