UK Mustangs SOLD OUT

Just had a telephone call from my dealer 5 minutes ago to double check that my order (Absolute Black, Ebony Interior, 5L V8, No options) was correct, because the Mustangs are now completely sold out for the country.

The cars are now, and I quote him, "Live on Ford's systems" - we use the same terminology here at Nissan where I work, and it basically means they are now in the production queue.

He also confirmed that my car would be here Q2 next year, possibly sooner if a miracle happens, but I was a very late order. I imagine earlier orders and those with a Champions League car will get them sooner, possibly November or December 2015.

So there you have it, folks. Even before a proper production car has hit the showrooms, 1300 of the things are already on the order books. :cheers:

From what my dealer told me. All the 2015 1300no allocation ones were sold out ages ago (like last year) Any orders placed this year were for the 2016 allocation. Due for arrival spring 2016.

Only 4 days ago and mine is Q2 next year (April, apparently). The thing is, the dealer is now no longer taking orders or order amendments for the car. So if there were two allocations they just rolled into each other, but now it seems they're "taking a break" from UK Models. Probably to retool for the 2016 RHD versions.

Yeah this is what was explained to me when I signed up.

As far as I'm aware the flat rock plant is closed now for June to change over to make the first 1300 due for delivery in November. Which is the champ league cars plus first orders.

Then it will switch back to the 2016 LHD model. Then back over to RHD for Q2 delivery..

I still haven't had my confirmation call yet but dealer has all my details and I was told EDD of May 2016.

I placed a deposit in october, dealorship checked my order about 3 times the last one about 2 months ago. I am in the first batch of cars so hopefully I will be on the system soon.

Wow, that's crazy. I ordered two months ago in Germany, I have EDD 17.7.2015 in COTUS and my dealer wrote me an email today stating the car will be ready for me on August 1st 2015.

Left Hand Drive European cars are manufactured before the Right Hand Drive UK/Australia cars.

So yes, you would receive yours sooner.

The problem is that one factory with not a lot of capacity is the only factory in the world making the things. 120 countries and ONE factory. Who does that?

At full line speed, Flat Rock employs about 3,000 workers on two shifts with annual capacity of about 220,000 units.

So maximum 4200 cars a week. Could fill the UK orders by lunchtime lol

220,000 units annually for 120 countries doesn't seem very well thought out. They should've added the model to one of their European factories.

Mustang GT on order and have owned a Mercury Grand Marquee and am toying with buying a Ford Thunderbird SC to tide me over until the Pony car arrives.

That's still not a lot by Car Factory standards, honestly. Nissan has two lines and produces 500,000 cars annually in Sunderland, and that's with a Shutdown almost every weekend.

220,000 units annually for 120 countries doesn't seem very well thought out. They should've added the model to one of their European factories.

They haven't sold over 200k Mustangs in quite some time. No point increasing capacity at this point until they know the demand is there and its economically feasible to get another plant the tooling to build them. Better to have a ton of demand and not enough supply then the other way around.

The factory also makes Fusions, but more Mustangs have been made than US sales for a few months.
