Wouldn't it have been better just waiting one more day? You have taxed it on the last day of the month. So effectively lost a months tax.

But as tax goes up every April he will get the lower rate every year he keeps it, so in the long term tax on 31st march saves money compared to April 1st.

Oh, I'm getting a little frustrated now. I'm trying to track my car on the shipping site and don't seem to be able to see anything new/changed on their site...

Hang in there mucker!! A high numbered car appeared last night with a higher number than ours, and it was built 3 days after, it's a LHD though, i'd say that ours should show by the end of this week.

Under the 2014+ system, taxing a car on the 31st of the month will still give me the entire month of March next year with renewal due in April. That's still 12 months VED. Besides, selling my old car in March guarantees an extra £300 on the price, and that more than makes up for it.

Don't know where you got that info from mate but its wrong. Mine was registered on the last day of the month & I lost a month. Taxed on 30/11/2015, tax due 01/11/2016

I'm in the Thursday pick up club too. Was hoping it would be tomorrow, but can't guarantee it will arrive at dealers in time, so 5pm Thursday it is. Just in time for a nice rush hour trip across Leeds. Not expecting much on the mpgs for its first outing.

So there's been a transporter up in Scotland then...I wonder...

Personally can't do a pickup before the weekend but could certainly do then. But no word from dealer, as ever.

I've checked my details on the gov.uk website. I did the paperwork last Thursday. Date of registration is showing as 30/03/16. It is showing as taxed and that the tax does not need renewing until 1st April 2017. So yes, you should get a full 12 months (+1 day) tax.
